11. Find unit imple response for a linear phase FIR filter in window design method of order N = 64 to
approximate following ideal frequency response magnitude.
Ha(jω) = 1 ; | ω | < = 0.3π
= 0 ; 0.3π < = | ω | < = π
12. An analog signal varying from +8V to -7.5V is quantized. If the number of quantization level is
32, what is the range of quantization error voltage?
14. State Gauss’s Law for an electric field and Ampere’s Circuital Law for a magnetic field and
elaborate their uses.
15. Whenever a time varying excitation is supplied to a magnetic material, the magnetic flux density
will be varying correspondingly. This flux density variation in response to excitation changes is
described by the hysteresis loop. Discuss how the hysteresis loop comes in to its shape taking
each phenomenon starting from the origin.
16. Discuss the physical explanations behind the operation of a transformer. Describe associated
losses and draw the equivalent circuit.
17. Show by a block diagram the major components of a communication system and clarify each
component within the system.
18. What is the major advantage of using an FM system compared to linear modulation systems?
What is the price that we pay to gain the advantages of an FM system?
19. Driving point and transfer functions can be completely expressed as a ratio of two polynomials.
In this view poles and zeroes are very important in network analysis and synthesis. Why? Explain
your answer with examples, explanations, etc.
20. A linear network is passive if
a) The energy delivered to the network is positive for arbitrary excitation.
b) No voltages or currents appear between between any two terminals before excitation is
applied.
c) The energy delivered to the network is negative for arbitrary excitation.
d) a and b
