Kelk 2000

Kelk 2000 featuers can be used in three diffrent methods. These


methods are:

1 - Standalon Kelk 2000 Application


2 - Inserting Kelk 2000 ActiveX control in other applications
3 - Connecting to Kelk 2000 Web site through Internat

Using Kelk 2000 ActiveX Control in other applications, Provides


ability to insert Calligraphy fonts like Tholuth, Nastaligh, Shekasteh,
Nask and Tahriri along with normal data for application.
Using Kelk Control in other applications
After inserting Kelk ActiveX Control in other applications, all featurs
of kelk are ready to use. You can resize or move Kelk control in host
application. As an example, we describe how to insert Kelk control in
Microsoft Word.

1 - To view <Control Toolbar>, Execute <Toolbars\Control Toolbox>


command from <View> menu

2 – From <Control Toolbox> Press » More Controls Button.

3 - Select K2k.K2kPage»Control.
After inserting Kelk control, it is in Design mode and you can not use it to type
or edit your art work. In desigh mode you you can only resize or move control.

To exit Design mode you have to click on tool on Control toolbox

Eexiting Design mode all of Kelk feature are ready to use and all mouse and
Keboard events will be redirected to Kelk.

 Note that theoretically there is no restriction on number of Kelk


controls that can be inserted in your document.except computer
memory.

There is no difference between Kelk control command and Kelk


standaloan application. Although using Kelk application is in
somehow easier to use bacause it also provides its own menu system
which results faster and easier access to Klek command.
Kelk control has only popup menu system that will be visible by
right clicking mouse on Kelk objects.

After running Kelk, its workspace will be as following picture.
Ofcourse remeber that based of your Kelk default settings, there may
be some differences.

Baseline
All available Toolbar commands are accessible through Kelk Menu system and Kelk
Popup Menu system. Although, Using Kelk Toolbar is much faster and easier.
Kelk toobar commands can be designed as you preferr. Using Kelk default settings
Dialog, there is a <Toolbar> tab in which you can costomize Kelk toolbar and
selects commands that can be visible on Toolbar.
By default all Toolbar commands are visible in Kelk.

If you have not changed Kelk Default parameters, with every new
document, there will be one Baseline with «‫ »كلك‬Text in black color.
If you prefer different new documet settings Defaults Dialog is a place
to do it.
On the right hand of Kelk workspace, there is <Kelk Calligraphy
Toolbar>. Tools found in this toolbar are directly related to
Calligraphy.
Appearance of this toolbar Depends on selected baseline font. In next
sections we will discus on usage of there tools.

Kelk workspace has two rulers. One horizontal and one vertical. These
rullers are scaled in milimeters. Moving mouse pointer over Kelk
workspace, two small locators on rulers shows approximate location
of mouse pointer. If you need to know exact location of mouse
pointer, it is printer on lower left corner of status line in milimeters.

Using Defaults Dialog box you can hide/show rulers. However they
are visible by default.

Toolbar
Kelk toolbar is located on top of workspace bellow Kelk menu
system. Using this toolbar you have faster access to some of Kelk
commands.
Following picture describes commands available through toolbar.

How to save an artwork to disk

Press button from toolbar or execute {Save}


command from {File} menu.
You can Save your artwork to Kelk2000 (Klx),
Ctrl+S Image and Text (Txt) files.
To save your artwork to graphic file formats, After pressing
button from toolbar or executing {Save} command from {File} menu,
Enter optional graphic file name in Dialog box and select {Image} file
format from the {Save as type} list.

Then click on {Save} button. The following Dialog box will apear.

Enter image resolution in DPI, and select image color depth and
image file type (Bmp, Tiff, Pcx, ..) from lists.

 Above setting has effects on image file size and speed of saving
process.
If you need to save image as mirrored (Vertically, Horizontally or
both) select desired check boxes.

At last press OK button to save your artwork as your prefered


image file format

 Note that, when you are using Kelk AtcveX control in other
applications like Microsoft word, there is no need to save artwork as a
seperate file. Host application will save yor artwork automatically
with your documant.
How to save part of artwork as Image
Saving part of your artwork as image can be done with two different
methods.

1st Method

1- Select tool from Calligraphy toolbar.


2- Press  key and hold it down.
3- Select area which you like to save as image with mouse
4- Press button from toolbar or execute {Save} command from
{File} menu.
5- To compleate process, continue as described before.

2nd Method

1- Execute {Save as image} from {File} menu.


2- Mouse pointer will change to

How to print artwork on printer


Press button from toolbar or execute {Print}
command from {File} menu.
Ctrl+P
Select Kelk paper from {Paper size} and {Paper Orientation}
fields.
Enter Top & Left margins or use mouse to move your art work
relative to printer paper.
If there is more that one page in your artwork, select your desired
pages.
If Kelk page size is bigger that printer paper size, select desired
tiles (by default all tiles are selected).

 If Kelk page size is bigger that printer paper size, Kelk will
devide artwork to several tiles that have equal size with printer paper.
Then it will automatically print all tiles one after another. Overlap
defines the width and height of shared part between neighbouring
tiles.
Kelk paper size can be any size even kilometers long & height!

How to Select/Change Line Font


1st Method
1- Select Baseline(s) with mouse by clicking on it. Selected baseline
will be drawn with blue color.
2- Select font style from toolbar.

2nd Method

1- Right click on baseline, execute {Properties} from opened popup


menu or execute {Properties} from {Line} menu.
2- Line Properties Dialog box will be opened

3- Select font style from font style list


4- Press {Exit} button to exit.

How to Select/Change Line/Word font size


1st Method

5- Select Baseline(s)/Word(s) with mouse by clicking on it. Selected


baseline(s)/Word(s) will be drawn with blue color.
6- Select/type font size from toolbar.

2nd Method

1- Right click on baseline/Word, execute {Properties} from opened


popup menu or execute {Properties} from {Line}/{Word} menu.
2- Line/Word Properties Dialog box will be opened

3- Select/type font size from font style list


4- Press {Exit} button to exit.

 If several Lines/Words beeing selected, all selected objects font size


will be changed.

How to Insert/Type Vowels


1st Method

When typing text in Page Text Dialog , it is possible to add vowels.


However there are many special vowels that can not be typed due to
Microsoft Windows keboard restrictions. To enter those special
vowels along with ordinary vowels, you have to use 2 nd method to
enter them.

2nd Method

1- Select Baseline/Word that you are going to add vowels.


2- Press button from toolbar.
3- Depending on selected baseline font style, one of the following
Vowels window will be appeared.

4- Select desired vowel from list by clicking on it.


5- Mouse pointer will change to selected vowel shape.
6- Move mouse pointer to proper position and click
7- Vowel will be inserted.
8- You can insert selected vowel as long as selected vowel is you
current mouse pointer shape.
9- To exit from vowel insetion mode, select from Calligraphy
toolbar.

 To attach inserted vowel to a Word, Select that word before


inserting vowel. Selectd Word becomes inserted vowel’s owner.
Inserted vowel’s properties (Size, Color, ....) will be as selected word.
 If before inserting vowel, you select Baseline, Inserted vowel will
attach to Baseline and Baseline will become vowel’s owner. vowel’s
properties (Size, Color, ....) will be as selected Baseline.
 As you move mouse pointer out of vowel window, it will be
diapeared automatically.
 If there are any Dots/vowels attached to a word, when selecting
word while  Key is pressed, Word and all attached Dots & Vowels
will be selected.
