Test 2 Solution

Question: Using a top-down approach in Autodesk Fusion 360, model and assemble the
components shown below

Modeling the Base

i) Select the Sketch Tool with the Top as the Datum Plane
ii) Sketch a rectangle of dimension 50 x 115mm
iii) Sketch the first circle to create a hole of diameter 5mm and use
rectangular pattern, mirror or through sketching more holes to have the
four holes in Figure 1

Figure 1: Base Profile-1

iv) Activate the Extrude feature and use it to give the sketched profile an
extrusion depth of 5mm as shown in Figure 2 and turn this into a
component to be renamed Base

Modeling the Support Bracket
i) Select the Sketch Tool with the Front surface of the Base Extrusion as
the Datum Plane
ii) Sketch an L-Shape of dimension 40mm x 40mm with the vertical side at
a distance of 8.5mm from the base centre and horizontal side aligning
with the top surface of the base
iii) Fillet the two lines using a fillet radius of 6.15mm
iv) Offset the filleted L-Shape at an offset distance of 4mm
v) Complete the profile as shown in Figure 3

Figure 3: Support Bracket L-Profile

vi) Activate the Extrude feature and use it to give the sketched profile an
extrusion depth of 50mm or use extrude to object as shown in Figure 4
and turn this into a component to be renamed Support Bracket

vii) Create the holes using the indicated surface of the shown in Figure 5
(Use project tool to project the holes to the upper surface of the plate)

viii) Use the hole feature (or sketch/extrude cut) to create the third hole as
shown in Figure 6

Modeling the second Support Bracket
i) Copy and paste the first support bracket, move away from the first
bracket and rotate to an angle of 1800 to have an assembly similar to
Figure 7

ii) Use Joint to join the bracket to the base using the holes to have the
model in Figure 8

Modeling the Wheel
i) Create datum plane at an offset distance of 25mm from the front
surface as shown in Figure 9

ii) Select the Sketch Tool with the newly created plane as the Datum Plane
iii) Sketch half of the given profile as shown in Figure 10

iv) Use revolve tool to have the Wheel model and ensure it is revolved as a
new component as shown in Figure 11
