The Hype Behind the Misinformation

Science Fiction has peddled a vision of the future where technology extends human life span and overpopulation
is a major threat to the survival of humanity.
The reality is something far worse: the decline of human birth rates leading to fewer younger people and more old people –
and not enough workers in good paying jobs to provide the financial underpinnings needed for a thriving society.
There is no longer a need to have a dozen children to have a thriving family. So, young people are not squirting out
the next generation of manual labor just ‘cause their parents did it that way.

And, yes, technology is allowing people to live longer. Fewer young people, more older people is the trend.

Populations Are Already Aging Out

China’s fertility rate (births per year) are so low there is a prediction that by 2050 the billion+ population will have
Dwindled to as few as 400 million through the natural attrition of deaths due to old age.

Japan and Korea face population shrinkage every year.

Some nations only compensate through embracing immigration from disadvantaged countries.

Immigration populations will decline along with al other populations.

Jobs (Employment, Ways to Lead a Happy Life)
Entrepreneurs recognizing opportunities they have the skill to exploit and having the business acumen to pursue
– making top notch money.

Skilled workers grinding away at fulfilling and good paying jobs. Envying the rich.

Drones grinding away at drab if good paying jobs. Envying everyone above them.

The miss-guided lot who think they lack the skill, talent, ability, drive, [insert any other excuse here] to do
anything but menial, low pay, unhappy work. And some are happy to have even a mediocre job.

Those who find a way of not working yet making money and living the “homeless” lifestyle that involves poor
health and an insecure future.

Support Gap

Population’s continue to grow due to an aging population – but not due to more births. Births are falling continuously.
As more people age out into retirement, there are fewer younger working people making the money (aka goods,
services, and everything else) needed to provide the thriving economy (life) a society needs.

To buy votes and support governments are already responding with bad logic:
China – Make more babies!
Japan – Make more babies!
US – eventually: make more babies, currently: welcome immigrants to provide labor. (And
eventually immigrant resources will dwindle with lower birthrates.)

Aging Population –
Even in the “good ole days” there were plenty of grinding low pay jobs no one wanted to work unless
they felt forced to. Those jobs provide very little to societies' success. Nothing independent robots could
not do.

To work at decent jobs with decent wages.

Robots are needed – and will be in high demand within 10 to 15 years if not sooner.
Public Opinion on Autonomous Robots
The Three Responses To Autonomous Robots Will Be

1) Robots took my barely living wage job. (Boo, hoo, hooo! Tears of the victim.)

2) I work alongside robots. (The sigh of relief of a survivor.)

3) I boss them damned robots around. (The cheer of a happy person living a happy life.
The thriver not the survivor.)

Autonomous Robots Are Coming

Will you see them as a solution to the economic need that is going to get worse with the aging
population?

Certainly the despoilers (the greedy scandal-of-the-moment mongers) will make money peddling fear
and doubt. Making money convincing other people to fight for their mediocre jobs.
Realize how bad things will get if the young people are forced to work lousy jobs just so the
fearmongers can prove themselves correct.

• Ignore the politicians and doom-and-despair opinion jerkers.

• Jump in eager and involved.
• Ride the surf of success that autonomous robots will bring in 10 to 15 years – maybe faster.
