Course Topics:
Course Policies:
Attendance: I do not take attendance. You are adults and I expect you to be motivated to
grow your knowledge and abilities by engaging in course lectures. I recommend that all
students attend live lectures if possible, because I believe attending lectures is the best
way to learn the concepts and improve your skills. Each student is responsible for his/her
missed classes.
Grading: Students earn the grades they receive; I do not curve grades or add extra points
or extra credit in this course because I do not believe students grades should be tied to
other students’ grades (on a curve) and because there are plenty of opportunities for
students to improve their grades throughout the semester with the quizzes and exams.
Late Policy: All submissions are due before the class on the specified date. Late
submissions will receive the penalty of 10% per day up to two calendar days. No
submission will be accepted two calendar days after the due date.
Talk to instructor for special cases, such as illness. Proper documents, such as a doctor's
note, may be required as a proof.
Preferred Names: If your preferred name is not the same as the name that appears on the
university provided roster for the course, please let me know so that I can use your
preferred name.
Academic Integrity: The Computer Science Department expects students to comply
fully with University policies on academic integrity. A minor infraction means a 0 in the
classwork. A major infraction means an F in the course. Additional penalties may include
probation, suspension, or expulsion from the University. You can find details at
https://www.csuohio.edu/academic-integrity/academic-integrity. All suspected cases of
academic misconduct will be reported to the University. You are capable of meeting my
expectations for this course. If you are concerned about how well you are doing in this
course, please come speak with me instead of considering academic misconduct.
Disability Services: Educational access is the provision of classroom accommodations,
auxiliary aids and services to ensure equal educational opportunities for all students
regardless of their disability. Any student who feels they may need an accommodation
based on the impact of a disability should contact the Office of Disability Services at
(216)687-2015. The Office is located in Rhodes West 210. Accommodations need to be
requested in advance and will not be granted retroactively.
