Q1.Three cylinders are piled in a rectangular ditch. Find reaction between cylinder C and vertical wall. Radius of cylinder A=5
cm , B=6cm,C=4cm. Figure-1.

Q2.Three identical cylinders each weighing W are stacked on incline surfaces at angle  with horizontal. Find smallest angle 
to prevent the stack from collapsing.fig-2.

Q3.A 4m long bar AB of negligible weight rests in a horizontal position on smooth inclines. Find distance x at which 100N load
should be placed from B to keep the bar horizontal. Fig-3

Q4.A string of length 60cm is tied to two supports at the same level & 40cm apart.A smooth ring of 400N is tied to the string at
40cm from left end & pulley by a horizontal force P.Find the value of P assuming tension in both sides of string is same.fig-18

Q5.Two cylinders of weight 4KN & 3KN rest on smooth inclined planes as shown in fig-16.They are connected to a weightless
bar hinged to each cylinder at its geometric centre by smooth pins.Find the force P to be applied to smaller cylinder at 45 0 to
vertical to hold the system in given position.

Q6.Figure 10 shows a smooth cylinder of radius 25cm supporting a rod AB 80cm long weighing 120N.End A of rod is hinged to
a horizontal surface AD.Cylinder is also attached to the hinge by a string of length 25cm.Find tension in the string for
equilibrium of the system.

Q7.A frictionless pulley is supported by two bars AB & AC which are hinged at B & C to a vertical wall as shown in fig-19.A
flexible cable DG hinged at D goes over the pulley & supports a load of 15KN at G. Find forces in the bars AB & AC.

Q13- Determine the resultant of the four forces acting on a body as shown in Fig [R = 200; α = 60°; at a
distance y = 8.7679 m below O]]

Q14- A roller of radius r = 300 mm and weight 2000 N is to be pulled over a curb of height 150 mm [Fig.]
by a horizontal force P applied to the end of a string wound tightly around the circumference of the roller.
Find the magnitude of P required to start the roller move over the Curb

Q15- Determine the reactions at A,B and D of system shown in fig [RDV = 16.07KN, RC = 21.43KN, RBV = 8.57KN,
RA = 12.86KN]

Q16- A system of parallel forces is acting on a rigid bar as shown in Fig. Reduce this system
to (i) a single force
(ii) A single force and a couple at A
(iii) A single force and a couple at B.

Q17. The frictionless pulley A shown in fig. is supported by two bars AB and AC which are hinged at B
and C to a vertical wall. The flexible cable DG hinged at D goes over the pulley and supported a load of
20 kN at G. The angles between the various members are shown in fig. determine the forces in AB and
AC. Neglect the size of pulley.

Q18. A roller of weight 500 N is held in equilibrium on a smooth inclined plane by means of a rope as
shown in fig. Calculate the reaction force on the roller and tension in the rope.

Q19. Two identical bars PQ and RS, each weighing 50 N welded together to form a T and are suspended
in a vertical plane as shown in fig. calculate the value of angle θ that the bar PQ will make with vertical,
when a vertical force of 100 N is applied at S.

Q20. Four forces are acting tangentially on the circumference of a circle of radius 1m as shown in fig.
Find the magnitude and direction of the resultant and its location from the center of the circle.
