Emergency Service..................................................................................38
Preface
Time passes quickly, and we have now approached the later part of 2024, ready for our
conferences, to be held at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), Tai Po,
Hong Kong, from 16 to 18 December 2024. We intend to keep the Conference on Health,
Environment, Education and Research (CHEER) Series and the Conference on Water
Resource and Environment (WRE) focusing on knowledge for protecting the
environment and human health.
It is our honour to have Prof Chetwyn Che Hin Chan, Vice President (Research and
Development) of EdUHK, deliver a Welcoming Speech and Prof Chih-Huang Weng,
Honorary Chair of CHEER2024 and General Chair of WRE2024, deliver an Opening
Speech, during the Opening Ceremony scheduled on 16 December 2024. These will be
followed by plenary and keynote speeches on environmental pollution, ecological and
human health risk assessments, advanced remediation technologies, environmental
management strategies, environmental health education, and relevant political issues.
To this end, we have gathered a group of overseas and local scientists and practitioners
from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Ecuador, Finland, Greece, Hong
Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, Russia,
South Korea, Thailand, and Taiwan, who will exchange information during this 3-day
event.
Local and overseas experts from different sectors will be gathered to solicit scientific
and technical inputs and political feedback. It is hoped to facilitate the development of
a holistic strategy that fists government needs and industrial interests in environmental
health issues in Hong Kong and other parts of the world. The information gathered at
CHEER2024 will serve as valuable references for developing sustainable and practical
solutions to the health problems associated with environmental issues.
We would like to take this chance to express our sincere gratitude to the Faculty of
Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (FLASS) and Department of Sciences and
Environment Studies (SES) of EdUHK for providing funding support for this event.
Our thanks also go to Hanyang University and Jeonbuk National University for co-
organizing this event and to members of the International Advisory, International/Local
Organizing, and International Scientific Committees for their dedication and hard work
during the past few months.

Emergency Service
In emergency situations, you can contact the local police, ambulance service, fire
department and other emergency services by calling 999.
Lost Passport
If you lose your passport, make a ‘lost report’ at the nearest police station (call the
Police Hotline 2527 7177 for locations or refer to their website to find a Report Room).
Then contact your consulate to have your passport replaced.
If your wallet or valuables are lost or stolen, please notify your hotel immediately and
report the theft to police. Keep a separate record of your credit card numbers and report
the loss to your card issuers as quickly as possible. Please check with your credit card
issuers or insurance company for emergency assistance. Most issuers have toll-free
numbers and 24-hour services to deal with such emergencies.
