Introduction

The “LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM” has been


developed to override the problems prevailing in the
practicing manual system. This system is supported to
reduce the hardship faced by this existing system.
Moreover, this system is designed to carry out
operations in a smooth and efficient manner. No
formal knowledge is needed for the user to use this
system. Thus, it proves user friendly. This is designed
to assist in strategic planning and will help you to
ensure that your organisation is equipped with the
right level of information and details for the future
goals.
Problem Definition
Library management systems facilitate the
administrators to keep an eye on the library
department’s all functions. Also, it enables
librarians and users to save time on daunting tasks
and enhances efficiency. By using this sort
of library management system, the school
management would be able to follow the work
outline and fineness of different librarians’
capabilities. Additionally, they get an opportunity
to know how well-maintained the record of
issued books and collection is. The librarian and
the administration department can access various
reports to implement new improvements.

Team Details:
The project “LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM” is
developed by Pratim and Hriday . It took approx.
10 days to develop this project, working 1.5 hours
daily.
Reason for choosing topic
The reason why we choose this topic is to eliminated
manual work .
❖ Increase efficiency - Maintaining daily reports of the total
books issued, reissued, unreturned & available manually can be a
tiresome process for a librarian. Library management systems
enhance the efficiency of the overall life cycle of a library as all the
activities can be done through a single click making the job of a
librarian easy.
❖ Time saving - Conventional way of managing library
activities can be time consuming. During exam period, number of
students accessing library books increase which may make
students wait to issue a book even longer than usual. Using a
library management system can really benefit during this time.
❖ Increase productivity - Having such management
systems in libraries can streamline the entire operations in a very
effective manner. With book records on click, dashboard to make
real time analysis & direct communication with the students; most
of the activities can be done through the system which saves a lot
of time for the team. Hence, they can use their time productively
in other priority work.
Objectives
The main objective of the project on Library
Management System is to manage the details of
Students, Books, Issues, Librarian & Fine. It manages all
the information and is totally build at administrative
end and thus only the administrator can access. The
purpose of the project is to build an application
program to reduce the manual work for managing the
student, books, issues, fines.

❖ It manages all the information of students, books,


fines, issues & librarian.
❖ It provides searching facilities based on various
factors such as students, books, issues.
❖ To increase efficiency of managing the students,
books ,issues and fines.
❖ It deals with monitoring the information and
transactions of librarian.
❖ It tracks all the details about the issues, fines,
librarian and students.

Limitations
Although we have put our best efforts to make the
software flexible, easy to operate but limitations
cannot be ruled out even by me. Though the software
presents a broad range of options to its users some
intricate options could not be covered into it. Paucity
of time was a major constraint; thus, it was not
possible to make the software fool proof and dynamic.

❖ There is no human interaction if users have some


enquiry.

❖ Library management system have a very large


library that will be difficult to update.

❖If the software is corrupted, whole data will be


lost.
