SCIENT- O -FEST 2024 - 2025

DATE: 21st December2024

TIME: 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm
Theme : Envisioning the Harmony between Man and Technology
1. Eligibility
Olive Public School Science and Technology Fest is open to students from grade III to XI.
2.Selection of Educational Projects
Contestants are free to select a project of their choice from a variety of disciplines, such as
Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Space, Engineering, Electronics, Biology, or any
other subjects.
Divisions:
 Senior (9 – 11th grade)
 Junior (6 - 8th grade)
 Primary (3 - 5th grade)
Team Event:
 Minimum of 2 contestants, maximum of 4 contestants per team
3.Requirements for participation:
Contestants participating are required to complete the set-up and decorate the stall before the
start of the exhibition schedule. The contestants shall exhibit their projects by:
I. Using a display poster board (the internal walls of the stall). While planning and
preparing your display board please remember that people will tend to "read" it like
they do with books in English (from left to right and top to bottom). Therefore, and as
a general guidance, let your display board follow the same pattern.
With the title being the only exception it should be located at the top center of your
display. The order of display material would be:
o Title: The title of your project.
o Problem / Purpose: State the problem that you were originally concerned
with and explain why you selected the topic you did?
o Hypothesis: State your hypothesis
o Procedures: State the procedures you followed. What experiments did you
perform and why?
o Results: Display and explain the results.
 Display your results preferably as Data, Graphics, Pictures, etc.
Remember that few visuals are worth thousands of words.
 Interpret and explain your results
o Conclusions: Was your hypothesis right or wrong? You might want to add a
new statement based on your work and findings?

4. Pre-exhibition Deliverables:
Participants must provide the below details to the respective class teacher on or
before16th Dec - 18th Dec 2024.
Proposal: This is a very brief description of the planned experiment. A short paragraph that
should help thecoordinator get a very clear idea of what is going to be done. This should be
done very early. It allows the teacher to check that the planned project/experiment is safe,
follows legal and ethical rules, and is not a simple demonstration.
1. Title: This is the name of the project/experiment. It is a good idea to use your science
question as the title for your project.
2. Purpose: This is a statement describing what could be learned from doing the
project/experiment. Contestants often include ideas about why the project/experiment
is important and how the learned information could benefit others.
3. Hypothesis: This is a prediction of what's expected to happen in the experiment. This
prediction must be based on some research, prior knowledge, or observations.
4. Materials List: All the equipment and resources needed to do the project/experiment.
5. Procedures: This is a step-by-step set of instructions for the project/experiment. It
must be very detailed and include accurate measurements of materials needed for each
step.
6. Results: What was observed at the different stages of the experiment/project?

5.Judging Criteria
 A panel of Judges will visit the stalls during the exhibition to evaluate the
performance of the participating teams and their projects based on below Parameters:
o Scientific approach as demonstrated in the pre-exhibition deliverables (30%)
o Stall presentation (10%)
o Verbal presentation/demonstration + Q&A (30%)
o Benefits & Functionality (30%)
6.Exhibits

Nature of the Exhibit

The exhibit should be a creation of the student, which either illustrates or demonstrates a
novel idea or device in an original manner. The contributions made by others must be
acknowledged on the exhibit or in the report.

Removal of Exhibits
No exhibits are to be dismantled or removed before the end of the Fair (7.30 p.m.)
All exhibits must be removed by 8 p.m.

7.Safety Requirements
The Science Fair safety officer will inspect each exhibit and determine whether an exhibit
may be displayed with or without further modification. The decision of the safety officer is
final. All exhibits MUST conform to the following standards, which will be rigidly enforced
by the safety officer.
8.Awards
The various awards are as follows:
 Certificate: Each participant will receive a certificate of participation.
 Trophies: School trophies will be awarded to those which, in the opinion of the
judges, have made the best overall contributions to the Fair in each division.
 People's Choice Certificate: Awarded to the project that receives the most votes from
the public viewers.
