Notes
If you are struggling, don't be afraid to reach out to me, the nerd gremlin, on Tiktok. I am
human and it's possible I made a mistake or need to rewrite something so it's clearer.
When working in the round, I work in a spiral rather than chaining 1 at the end of all my
rounds, it's just easier for me. When changing colors, use a method that minimizes
visual disjointenness because you will see it in the finished project. I like this method
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTL8WMaem/, but make sure you are maintaining 42 stitches
when you use it!
Finish off usually means to ch 1 and pull a tail though
If you are finishing a circle you can sl st in the next stitch and then ch 1 and pull through
the tail to make the circle more even.
I never measure my “long tails” but I would guess about ~7 inches.

Start with red yarn. This is because you can make a prettier center with a magic ring
than you can when finishing and closing a ball.
Make a magic circle or your preferred method for starting a round.
Pokemon button
Round 1: magic ring with 6 sc, close ring with black yarn with sl st
Round 2: (inc) X 6 [12] finish off and leave a long tail for sewing the button to pokeball
Sew button to pokeball top (red) at the center front (count 15 stitches from the edge).
Center the button vertically, it’s center should be at the edge of the red pokeball
opening. (An easy mistake and somewhat unavoidable issue is putting the button too
high such that it's not centered when the pokeball is closed.) Sew the top ~6 sc to
pokeball. Threading tapestry needle around two legs of the button and through the
pokeball stitches. Then secure the back middle of the button to the pokeball by
threading a tapestry needle through the back threads of the button and the legs of the
red pokeball edge. Hide the tail in some stitches and leave the rest of the tail in the

pokeball. If you are confused, you can see me doing this in the video I linked earlier

Add zipper
Mark halfway point (3 inches) and use sewing pins to hold the zipper to the pokeball.
With the zipper closed, put the zipper pull on the left side
Pin the zipper bottom (black and white) and middle (either side of the button) of the top
(red) with the zipper closed (to help improve alignment) then unzip and finish pinning
the zipper (top left and right sides).
Sew zipper with matching thread (white and red). Sew not too close to the teeth, if you
sew right next to the teeth you will have a hard time closing the zipper when you are
finished with everything. Sew ~ ¼ inches away from the teeth.
Have at least as many stitches as there are crochet stitches.

Body parts
Use lavender yarn
First make two circles then you will combine them together
Head bumps
Round 1: 6 sc (magic ring with 6 SC)
Round 2: (inc) X 6 [12]
Rounds 3 - 5: 12 sc
Repeat so there are two and don't cut the yarn for the second one.
Crochet around the two circles so there are 24 stitches. I had to do this a few times as I
was accidentally adding stitches, for example you might mistake your fasten off as
another stitch. I noticed when I went around that I was getting a big gap between the

two so I did 12 sc (starting from one head bump and crocheting the first stitch on the
other head bump thus combining them together) and then dec/crochet two together with
the hole where I had the first sc and the next sc on the first head bump, then did 12 sc.
Body
Round 1: (3 sc, inc) X 6 [30]
Round 2: 30 sc
Round 3: (4 sc, inc) X 6 [36]
Round 4: 36 sc
Round 5: (5 sc, inc) X 6 [42]
Round 6: 42 sc
Rounds 7 - 9: 42 sc
Round 10: 6 sc, use 4.00mm/US G/6 hook to make 31 ch (note this is one more than
you technically need, doing so makes the next round easier), return to using 3.25mm
US D/3 to make 6 sc. The first of these 6 is in the 31th stitch from the last worked stitch
6 sc.
Round 11: 6 sc, work in the bottom bumps of the chain stitches, 30 sc, 6 sc (count your
stitches before continuing to the next round! You should have 42).
Rounds 12 -14: 42 sc
Round 15: (6 sc, inc) X 6 [48]
Round 16: 48 sc
Round 17 (7 sc, inc) X 6 [54]
Round 18: 54 sc
Round 19: (2 sc, 2 hdc, inc with three double crochet in the same hole, 2 hdc, 2sc) X 6

Bottom
Use lavender yarn
Crochet oval to cover the bottom side of Ditto.
Round 1: ch 5, 1 turning ch
Round 2: work on the top leg of the ch stitches 4 sc, 3 sc in the last ch, 3 sc on the other
side legs 2 sc in the last ch [12]
Round 3: inc, 3 sc, 3 inc, 3 sc, 2 inc [18]
Round 4: sc, inc, (sc, inc) X 3, 3 sc, (sc, inc) X 2 [24]
Round 5: 2 sc, inc, (2 sc, inc) X 3, 3 sc, (2 sc, inc) X 2 [30]
Round 6: 3 sc, inc, (3 sc, inc) X 3, 3 sc, (3 sc, inc) X 2 [36]
Round 7: 4 sc, inc, (4 sc, inc) X 3, 3 sc, (4 sc, inc) X 2 [42]
Round 8: 5 sc, inc, (5 sc, inc) X 3, 3 sc, (5 sc, inc) X 2 [48]

Round 9: 6 sc, inc, (6 sc, inc) X 3, 3 sc, (6 sc, inc) X 2 [54]
Finish off and leave a long tail
Use the long tail to sew it to the bottom with a tapestry needle. Weave the long tail
around the posts of round 16 of the body. One for one as there are the same number of
stitches. I personally ran out of yarn from my long tail and used the long tail from the
body to get the last few stitches. Hide the tail(s) in the body.
Arms
Round 1: 6 sc (magic ring with 6 SC)
Round 2: (inc) X 6 [12]
Round 3 -5: 12 sc
Round 6: ch turning chain and 5 hdc
Finish off and leave a long tail
Repeat so there are two
Sew to either side of the body centered with the head bumps and the top attached at
round 1 of the body and the hdc side at the bottom just above the opening. This makes
the arms angled/raised up.
Add zipper
Add the zipper in the same way as the pokeball but you can use all lavender thread.
If you wanted to add a pokemon instead, you would need to have the same number of
stitches at the opening and at least a volume as big as the pokeball pattern. You could
have a sphere pokemon or an egg shape, etc. If you add a big pokemon you would just
add less stuffing between the two.
Put the pokeball inside the pokemon such that you can see the outside of the pokeball
(i.e wrong sides together). Also put the pokeball in upside down so when both zippers
are unzipped the pulls of the zippers are on opposite sides.
Add a bit of stuffing on either side. If you miss measure you can use your hook to pull a
bit more stuffing through the crochet holes later.
Use lavender thread and sew the two sides of the opening together. Make sure your
needle only just catches the zipper and the back side of the yarn threads so you don't
see thread on the pokeball side.
Try to open and close the zipper that is on the outside. Flip and do the same for the
other way. If it does not close, don't force it, look for where it's getting caught, you might
have a loose thread that got caught or maybe the medal head of the zipper got caught
in the zipper ribbon.
