Installing D25290-xx Firmware updates using Boot

Loader 2.xx
The D25290-xx Firmware contains two components that will be updated in one
step. The version numbers will be displayed when power is applied to the
controller. This document assumes that the boot loader has been previously
updated to version 2.03 or higher.

Saving the Configuration Settings

Before updating the firmware, the power supply’s configuration settings should
be saved to the SD-Card. In normal operation, the configuration settings are
saved to the SD-Card at power-up and once-per-hour. If each of the power
supplies that you will be updating already have an SD-Card installed, each of
these cards will have the latest configuration settings stored in a file with a .csv
file extension. If your SD-Card doesn’t have the latest configuration settings for
the power supply you are about to update, insert the SD-Card into the D25290-xx
DSP Board’s SD-Card reader and power-up the power supply for a few seconds
and then power it down.

Note: Prior to starting the update process it’s a good practice to back up the
controller’s configuration by accessing the SD functions menus on a NWL display
and select “Backup Config”. This can be used to restore the board configuration
in case the auto save file is missing or unusable.

Installing Application Firmware updates using a GDU display ( Requires

GDU v1.3.1.0 or higher ).

Beginning with version 2.03, firmware updates will have a file extension equal to
“.nwl”. These files can only be loaded by Bootloader version 2.xx and above.

1. Copy the new version firmware file to a USB flash drive, and insert into the
USB port on the back of the GDU.
2. Using Firmware Update option on the Setup Menu, transfer the file.
3. Wait until the transfer is complete, as indicated by the GDU.

Installing Firmware updates using the SD-Card method

Beginning with version 2.XX, firmware updates will have a file extension equal to
“.nwl”. They can only be loaded by Bootloader version 2.xx and above.

1. Copy the new version firmware file to a SD-Card. It will have a file extension
equal to “.nwl”. There must only be one “filename.nwl” file on the SD-Card.

2. Remove power from the controller to be updated.
3. Set all SW3 switches to the ON position.
4. Insert the SD-Card with the new version firmware in the D25290-xx DSP
Board.
5. Power-up the controller. The firmware update will start automatically.
6. When the update is finished, “done” will be displayed on the D25290-xx LED
display. This process will normally take ~ 20 seconds.
7. Remove power from the controller.
8. Set all SW3 switches to off. Insert the SD-Card that has this power supply’s
configuration stored on it in the D25290-xx DSP Board.
9. Power-up the controller and verify the correct firmware version numbers are
displayed. During this initial power-up, the configuration settings stored on
the SD-Card will be written to the controller. If the original configuration is not
restored use a NWL display and restore the configuration via the SD functions
menu.
