INTRODUCTION

The IMPRES Battery Fleet Management system provides organizations with the ability to analyze their fleet of
IMPRES radio batteries. When connected to IMPRES charging devices, IMPRES Battery Fleet Management
collects important information from each IMPRES battery inserted into the device. Administrators can then use
the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management analysis tool to analyze the data, as well as create custom reports and
charts to help answer questions about batteries that are specific to the organization. Reports are displayed
within IMPRES Battery Fleet Management in a tabular form that can be customized to include or omit battery
attributes that are of interest. The analysis tool can create pie and bar charts of many of the battery attributes.
In addition, multiple filters can be applied to the report results to "drill down" to specific battery categories.
Batteries can also be logically grouped by assigning them an alias name, or by assigning them to user defined
battery groups. IMPRES Battery Fleet Management also provides a number of predefined charts that are based
on the reports. These charts show many of the important battery attributes plotted by the number of batteries in
the fleet, or by other battery attributes which may be useful for spotting trends in the data.

The IMPRES Battery Fleet Management application also contains a tool called the Device Monitor that can be
used to monitor all of the IMPRES charging devices (Multi Unit Chargers and Dual Unit Chargers) that are
connected to computers running the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management software. Using the Device Monitor
tool, administrators can examine all computers that are currently running IMPRES Battery Fleet Management, all
IMPRES charging devices that are attached to those computers as well as the status of the batteries that are
inserted into the charger pockets.

In addition to collecting battery data from chargers, the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management system can collect
battery data from an APX IMW system or a MOTOTRBO MNIS system.

This release contains the following new features and enhancements:

● Improved installer: less mouse clicks for a first time install.


● New Web Services and Web GUI that replaces PC APP GUI.
● Added back support for CIU devices as LEGACY SUPPORT ONLY CIU and BDR will be supported AS IS.
● Impres 2 MUC drivers include enhancements to read battery data and update while batteries are
charging/discharging.
● Added new/recent battery types/kit-numbers.
● 90 day trial mode without need for license. Chargers only (will require a 4.0 license at the end of the 90
day period).
● 90 day trial mode full functionality using a 3.x license (will require a 4.0 license at the end of the 90 day
period).

Defect Fixes
This release contains the following defect fixes:

● Fixed issues with installation of USB drivers for chargers.


● Device info of multiple IMPRES chargers connected to PC at the same time are able to be displayed
correctly.

Important Notes
This release contains the following important notes:

● Original PC GUI is now very limited. Used for configuration of OTA and installation of license.
● Ability to use flash chargers was removed.

Web Services:
This release contains the following details of web services:

● Requires to enable Windows IIS web server.


● The main GUI is now the web service.
● On the local server, the web service will be found at http://localhost.
● It is recommended that a DNS name be assigned to the machine that is hosting the BFM web services.

Release Note 3.5.1


New features and enhancements
This release contains the following new features and enhancements:

● Enhanced the installation package procedure to install new IMPRES Gen 2 drivers.
● Enhanced the HostID generation method for license activation feature.

Defect Fixes
This release contains the following defect fixes:

● Fixed the ASTRO and MOTOTRBO over the air reporting issue with fresh installation of IMPRES Battery Fleet
Management 3.5.0.

Important Notes
This release contains the following important notes:

● There would be a potential chance for the existing IMPRES Battery Fleet Management application to
lose activation when the user upgrades the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management application from earlier
version to version 3.5.1 after running Windows Update or running the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management
application in Virtual Machine environment. You can use your existing Entitlement ID (EID) to re-activate
the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management application.
● When the user plugs in an IMPRES 2 charger to the PC after IMPRES Battery Fleet Management 3.5.1
installation for the first time, the user might not be able to see the IMPRES 2 charger information in the
System Device Monitor tab of the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management application. This is due to the new
IMPRES Gen 2 drivers installation for the IMPRES 2 charger. As for recovery, there are two options: (a) The
user needs to unplug the IMPRES 2 charger from the PC and then plug in the IMPRES 2 charger again to
the PC. or (b) Restart the PC.
● If the user wants to use Virtual Machine to run the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management application, the
Virtual Machine needs to be configured with a static/manual physical MAC address. Running the
IMPRES Battery Fleet Management application on a Virtual Machine with a dynamic physical MAC
address may cause the IMPRES Battery Fleet Management application to lose activation.

Release Note 3.5.0


New features and enhancements
This release contains the following new features and enhancements:

● Added current radio ID range selection and last known radio ID range selection in Custom Report
Generation Tool.
● Added Current Radio with Battery Health Data and Last Known Radio with Battery Health Data options
in Request Status menu in Radios and Batteries table to display the rows with both Radio ID and battery
health data so that the user can sort the Health column in order to find the radios with low percentage
battery health.
● Display only relevant items in the Legend section of charts and add text that shows the Legend item
and number of batteries when we hover over the bar.
● Added Last Known Radio feature to track the last radio a battery is associated with when the radio
changes batteries.
● Set the initial radio alias to the Friendly Name of the radio in IMW configuration for ASTRO radios.
● Keep details of custom reports on new BFM package installation.
● Enhanced charger firmware update feature with parallel reprogramming and download latest
UpdateFile.xml and charger firmware from MSI server.

Defect Fixes
This release contains the following defect fixes:

standard user mode.

● Removed support for IMPRES Battery Data Reader, IMPRES 1 Charger Interface Unit and IMPRES 2 Single
Unit Charger.
● Removed firmware reprogramming capability for DUC and GEN2 Entry Tier Charger.
● For Current Radio ID and Last Known Radio ID fields, "Begins With" operator in Custom Report Generation
Tool refers to greater than or equals to the radio ID in the textbox whereas "Begins With" operator in Filter
window (Funnel icon) refers to the first few digits of the radio ID in the textbox; "Ends With" operator in
Custom Report Generation Tool refers to lesser than or equals to the radio ID in the textbox whereas
"Ends With" operator in Filter window (Funnel icon) refers to the last few digits of the radio ID in the
textbox.

This release contains the following new features and enhancements:

● Added support for IMPRES Gen 2 PMPN4400A Aragorn Boromir 6 pockets, PMPN4340A Lex L11 12
pockets and NNTN9063A Ethernet MUC Fusion 12 pockets Collaborative MUC.
● Added support for IMPRES 2 charger firmware V01.11.01 and Battery Data Reader firmware V01.06.
● Added IMPRES 2 (Cypress) drivers package installer into installation package.
● Removed user login information feature.

This release contains the following defect fixes:

Important Notes
This release contains the following important notes:

● When upgrading to IMPRES Battery Fleet Management 3.4.1, users can choose to either keep or create
a new database. The existing user account will be removed permanently, battery information will still be
available.
● Downgrade from a new version to an older version is not supported by IMPRES Battery Fleet
Management. Once upgraded to version 3.4.1, any revert to version 3.4.0 and below will result in a new
empty database being created. Database information will be lost. Users can only choose not to save
existing records when prompted with the question "Do you want to keep battery, group, computer,
device data and threshold value?"
● Both server and client must use the same IMPRES Battery Fleet Management version to ensure no data
incompatibility and data loss.

REQUIREMENTS

Operating System
IMPRES Battery Fleet Management is required to run on English language operating systems from the below list.
Running the application on a Non-English operating system may cause the application to not function
correctly.
● Microsoft® Windows® 10 Professional and Enterprise Editions
● Microsoft® Windows® Server 2012
● Microsoft® Windows® Server 2016

Hardware
IMPRES Battery Fleet Management can be installed on more than one computer in an organization. If it is
installed on multiple computers, one computer must be designated as the server and all other computers are
considered to be clients. The hardware requirements are different for the server computer and the client
computers as shown below:
