The Bookshop
It was a lekker day when I strolled into the bookshop—more like a treasure trove,
really! The first thing I noticed was the smell, you know? That mix of old paper and
coffee from the café in the corner. Wow! The vibe here was as chilled as a Sunday braai
(with boerie rolls and all).
Rows upon rows of books filled the space, from hardcovers to paperbacks, biographies,
self-help guides, etc. It was overwhelming, yet comforting. I paused by a table stacked
with classics, their well-worn covers calling out to be read. As I scanned the titles, I
spotted The Real Struggle Stories and reached for it instinctively.
The pages were filled with gripping tales—stories of resilience, hope, and heartbreak—
woven together seamlessly. I couldn’t help but admire the author’s storytelling skills.

mismatched tables sipping cappuccinos, surrounded by booklovers and a comforting
hum of conversation, and felt at home.
Eventually, I made my way to the counter and asked the clerk if they had other books
on history or anthropology. “Near the back shelf,” he replied. I smiled, purchased the
book for R150 (Okay, R149.99 if we’re being precise), and stepped out, eager to start
reading. As I walked out into the crisp air, I couldn’t help but wonder if the bookshop
had more hidden corners waiting to be explored...
