Cooling Load
Cooling Load
The cooling load calculations for residential buildings presented in this section
cover the engineering calculations for single-family and multi- family residence.
The residential buildings are characterized as being occupied and air conditioned
during 24 hour per day for almost every day of the summer season. The walls of the
single-family residence are usually sunlit in four directions while the multi-family
buildings have one or two exposed walls. The cooling load due to occupants and
lighting are small compared to commercial applications.
The cooling load for single-family and multi-family residences consist of the
following component:
𝑞 ∆𝑇
∝ … … … … … … … … … … … … (2 − 1)
