Creating and Uploading Videos

Please follow these steps to create your video for this assignment:

1. Record your short video introduction using a computer camera, cell phone
camera or any other recording device that will allow you to save a digital
video to your computer.
2. Remember, YOU need to be always visible in your videos since the final
evaluation is based on you and how you teach. For this course, it’s important
to demonstrate that you can implement teaching techniques taught in this
course, like 80/20, warm language, body language, and how you’d interact
with a real or pretend class to lower students’ affective filter, rather than
your use of technology and slides. You will be asked to refilm any videos
that don’t show your face in the teaching videos in the Capstone 2, Week 5
Teaching Portfolio: Expert Review assignment.
3. Save your video to your computer.
4. Please watch this sample video, if you’d like to see what we’re looking for in
a teaching video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gmGD0u-Ni4

Once you have the video saved to your computer, you can either upload it directly
to Coursera by using the “Upload File” option. Or you can upload it to a 3rd party
website, such as YouTube, and submit the URL to Coursera. Please follow these
steps to upload the video to YouTube. If you cannot access YouTube, there are a
number of other video sites that will work, such as ToDou or Youku in China).
However, these instructions are specific to YouTube.

1. Go to http://youtube.com and create an account, if you don't already have

one. If you do not wish to be identified, create a new account with a
pseudonym.
2. Sign in, and then click on the Upload button at the top of the page.
3. Click on the "Select files to upload" in the middle of the screen and then
locate and click on your video to upload it.
4. Go to your "Video Manager" page.
5. Select the video you want to make “unlisted”. Click the "Edit" button to
access the video's settings.
6. Go to the Privacy section of the page. There you'll see the option to mark
your video as "unlisted", "public", or "private." Select "unlisted". By
selecting "unlisted," your video will be hosted by Youtube but cannot be
found by searching on Youtube- however, it will be accessible on Coursera
once you embed a link. Selecting "private" settings will not allow your
classmates to see your video. If you have problems with setting your video
as "unlisted", see YouTube's help page.
7. Click the "Save Changes" button. Once you've done this, your video will be
an "unlisted" video. This means the video is available to anyone with the
link, but that it cannot be found in searches. Please respect the privacy of
others; do not share other people's URLs unless you have their written
permission!
8. Copy the URL from your video and paste it into the URL field of the My
Submission section of the Peer Review.
