PowerPoint Live
PowerPoint Live
integrating seamlessly with Microsoft Teams and the PowerPoint for the web experience.
It allows presenters to engage with their audience in a more dynamic way, providing tools for
real-time collaboration, accessibility features, and an enriched presentation experience. This
feature is particularly useful for virtual or hybrid meetings, conferences, and webinars.
1. Real-Time Interactivity:
o PowerPoint Live enables interactive communication between the presenter
and the audience. Viewers can interact with the presentation in real-time,
participate in polls, Q&A sessions, and engage with slide content like never
before.
2. Presenter and Audience Views:
o Presenter View: The presenter has full control over their slide deck, including
access to notes, upcoming slides, a timer, and a preview of their content.
o Audience View: The audience sees the presentation, but they can also have a
more customized experience based on their needs, such as adjusting the font
size or switching to a high-contrast mode for better accessibility.
3. Integrated with Microsoft Teams:
o PowerPoint Live is tightly integrated with Microsoft Teams, allowing you to
present PowerPoint slides directly within a Teams meeting or webinar. This
ensures smoother transitions between the presentation and the interactive
elements of Teams, such as chat, reactions, and Q&A.
4. Slide Translation:
o Automatic Slide Translation: PowerPoint Live includes an AI-powered
translation tool that can automatically translate slides in real-time. This feature
is particularly useful for global teams or audiences who speak different
languages, as it offers automatic captions or slide translations in multiple
languages.
5. Real-Time Captions and Subtitles:
o PowerPoint Live provides live captions or subtitles for the presentation,
which is beneficial for accessibility and for participants who may have hearing
impairments. You can select the language for the captions, and the captions
appear in real-time as the presenter speaks.
6. Audience Interaction:
o Viewers can interact with the slides by zooming in and out, making the
content more accessible. They can also view notes or ask questions directly
within Teams.
o Live Polling and Q&A: The presenter can engage the audience through live
polls or Q&A sessions, where participants can submit questions, vote on polls,
or participate in interactive discussions.
7. Immersive Reader Mode:
o The Immersive Reader in PowerPoint Live helps individuals with learning
disabilities or those who need additional reading assistance. It reads out loud
the text content on the slides and highlights it as it reads, improving
comprehension.
8. Focus Mode:
o In Focus Mode, the audience can concentrate on the slide being presented
without distractions. This feature hides non-essential elements like the chat or
meeting controls to give the audience an undistracted view of the presentation.
9. Interactive Navigation:
o Viewers can navigate the slides on their own during or after the presentation,
which is a great feature for asynchronous learning or for those who want to
revisit certain content after the live session ends.
Open your PowerPoint presentation and make sure it’s stored in OneDrive or
SharePoint (cloud storage) to enable real-time sharing and collaboration. This is
necessary for presenting through Teams or PowerPoint for the web.
Start a Teams Meeting: Open Microsoft Teams and create or join a meeting where
you want to present.
Share Your Screen: Choose the option to share your screen, and select PowerPoint
Live as the presentation method. This will give you control over your slide deck while
allowing your audience to interact with it.
Interactive Tools: During your presentation, you can enable features like Q&A, live
reactions, and polls to engage with the audience.
Real-Time Feedback: Monitor audience feedback through the Teams chat and
interact with participants who have questions or comments.
If you're presenting remotely and want to use PowerPoint Live, you can use
PowerPoint for the web (browser version) and share the link to your presentation.
The audience can interact with it live in their browser.
Incorporate Interactive Elements: Add Q&A sections, polls, or links to external
resources directly into your slides, allowing the audience to engage with the
presentation as it progresses.
To enable live captions, click on the Settings icon (gear icon) in the PowerPoint Live
window and select Enable Subtitles. You can choose the language for the captions,
and they will automatically sync with your speech.
5. Post-Presentation:
After your live presentation, PowerPoint Live allows you to share the slide deck with
the audience. They can explore the slides in Focus Mode, access content, or revisit
the material on their own time.
You can also enable recording in Teams to share the full meeting experience,
including your presentation and audience interactions.
1. Connectivity Issues:
o As PowerPoint Live is internet-dependent, make sure you have a strong and
stable internet connection, especially when presenting through Teams or
PowerPoint for the web.
2. Limited Features for Non-Teams Users:
o PowerPoint Live works best when integrated with Microsoft Teams. If you’re
presenting to an audience that doesn’t use Teams, certain interactive features
like Q&A, live polls, or real-time feedback might not be as effective.
3. Slide Translation:
o While the automatic translation feature is powerful, it might not be perfect.
It works best with text-based slides, but some visual or complex content might
not translate as expected. It’s always a good idea to double-check translations
before your presentation.
4. Audio and Video Sync:
o Ensure that your microphone and video are working correctly, as PowerPoint
Live relies heavily on audio for real-time captions. Test the setup beforehand
to avoid lag or sync issues during the presentation.
