Open SolidWorks
We start with the blue contour line as shown in the picture below.
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Add the two dimensions and the horizontal relation as shown in the picture
NOTE: The Top Views of the yacht are 90 degrees rotated in order to have more space at the page.
If you want to rotate your views as well you can use the arrow keys on your keyboard for this.
Click OK
This spline is the most important contour line of the hull so it must perfectly match the blueprint.
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Make sure that the right endpoint of the straight line is connected to the Back Plane and the left side is connected with the previous Spline
Select a straight line, hold down the control key, select the spline and click on the Tangency icon
in the Add Relations bar.
Click OK
Select the two sketches to project : Sketch1 and Sketch2 in the Feature Tree
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Connect the right side of the spline with the Back Plane
Rotate your model and select the left endpoint of Sketch3 as shown in the picture
Click on the Arrow point on the leftside of the spline and add a vertical relation
Pull on the arrow point to approach the line on the blueprint as good as possible.
Select the two sketches to project : Sketch3 and Sketch4 in the Feature Tree
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Click OK
Click OK
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Click OK
Click OK
Make sure that the green balls are both on the same end as shown in the picture
If not, click and drag one ball to the other side of the sketch
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Connect the right endpoint of the line with the Back Plane and add the two dimensions
Connect the right side of the spline with the Horizontal line
Connect the left side of the spline with the corner of Surface Loft1 as shown in the picture
Click OK
Click OK
Pull on the arrow point to approach the curve on the blueprint as good as possible.
Make sure that the green balls are both on the same end as shown in the picture
If not, click and drag one ball to the other side of the sketch
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Go to: Insert > Surface > Trim or click on the Trim icon
Select the two purple surfaces next to the cutline as shown in the picture.
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Click OK
Select the lower centerline, hold down the Control key and select the blue edge as shown in the picture
Click OK
Pull on the arrow point to approach the curve on the blueprint as good as possible.
Select Tangency To Face as Start constraint for the transition between Surface-Loft1 and the new Surface Loft
Select Normal to Profile as End constraint for the transition between the Mid Plane and the new Surface Loft
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Go to: Insert > Surface > Extrude or click on the Surface Extrude icon
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Surface > Trim or click on the Trim icon
Click OK
Go to Insert > Surface > Knit or click on the Surface Knit icon
Click OK
NOTE: It’s absolutely crucial that the color of the knitted edges changes from blue into black after the Knit feature
is applied. If the edge of the Knitted surface stay’s blue it means there’s a (small) gab between some surface
transitions. Make sure that the color of the Knitted edges always changes from blue into black when you’ve applied
the Knit feature. Otherwise it will causing problems later on if you want to convert the surface body into a Solid body.
Go to: Insert > Surface > Trim or click on the Trim icon
Click OK
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Connect the ends of the line with the surface body as shown in the picture
Go to: Insert > Surface > Fill or click on the Surface Fill icon
Click OK
Go to Insert > Surface > Knit or click on the Surface Knit icon
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Surface > Fill or click on the Surface Fill icon
Select the Try to form solid option (this option will solidify your model)
Click OK
You can use a Section View (top menubar) to check if your model is solid.
If this is not the case I recommend you to check if there are no blue edges left. They are supposed to be black.
Click OK
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the selected Plane.
Click on the BLUEPRINT_SIDEVIEW in the Feature Tree and click on the Glasses to hide the blueprint
Go to Tools > Sketch Tools > Offset Entities or click on the Offset Entities icon
Make sure that the offset is directed inwards as shown in the Detail. If not, click on the Reverse
button to change the direction of the Offset.
Click OK
Detail
Go to: Tools > Sketch Tools > Trim or click on the Trim icon
Click and drag the cursor over the lines to remove them
Click and drag the cursor over the lines to remove them
Click OK
The color of the line changed from blue into black which means that the line is fully defined
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Boss/Base > Extrude or click on the Extrude icon
Click OK
Click OK
Go to: Tools > Sketch Tools > Trim or click on the Trim icon
Click and drag the cursor over the extended lines to remove them
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Cut > Extrude or click on the Extruded Cut icon
Click on the Reverse Direction button to make sure that the Extruded Cut is directed as shown in the picture
Click OK
Select the blue horizontal line as shown in the picture, hold down the Control key and select the blue spline
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Boss/Base > Extrude or click on the Extrude icon
Click OK
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the Bottom Plane.
NOTE: You can also use the arrows of your keyboard to rotate your model
Click on the bottom endpoint of the lower spline and add a Vertical relation as shown in the picture
Go to: Insert > Cut > Extrude or click on the Extruded Cut icon
Click on the Reverse Direction button to make sure that the Extruded Cut is directed as shown in the picture
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round or click on the Fillet icon
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Features > Chamfer or click on the Chamfer icon
Change into 50 mm
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Features > Chamfer or click on the Chamfer icon
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round or click on the Fillet icon
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round or click on the Fillet icon
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round or click on the Fillet icon
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round or click on the Fillet icon
Click OK
Go to: Insert > Reference Geometry > Plane or click on the New Plane icon
Click OK
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to the Bottom Plane.
Rote the view 180 degrees with the keyboard arrows as shown in the picture
Click on one of the endpoints of the spline and drag at the arrow point to change the curve
Do the same thing for the other side of the spline as shown in the picture

Create an Extruded Cut
Go to: Insert > Cut > Extrude or click on the Extruded Cut icon
Change into 38 mm
Click on the Reverse Offset option to make sure that the Extruded Cut is directed inwards the body
Click OK

Create a Fillet
Go to: Insert > Features > Fillet/Round or click on the Fillet icon
Click OK

Create a new sketch on Plane1
Click on the Normal To option to rotate and zoom the model normal to Plane1
Switch the Display Style to Wireframe to make the blueprint visible in the hull as shown in the picture

Draw the four lines as shown on the blueprint
Select the four lines and click on the Fix button to constraint the lines

Add a Sketch Fillet to the corners of the rectangle
Go to Tools > Sketch Tools > Fillet or click on the Fillet option
Click OK

Create a Linear Pattern for the other windows
Go to: Tools > Sketch Tools > Linear Pattern or click on the Linear Pattern icon
Change A1 into 178deg to reproduce the window on the blueprint as good as possible
Click OK

Remove the fourth window as shown on the blueprint
Select the lines of the fourth window and click on the Delete button on your keyboard
Select two of the lines and click on the Fix button to define the sketch

Switch the Display Style from Wireframe back into Shaded With Edges to make the
body of the hull visible again
Go to: Insert > Cut > Extrude or click on the Extruded Cut icon
Change into 50 mm
Click OK

Create a Fillet

Create one of the portholes with the Slot feature
Go to: Tools > Sketch Entities > Straight Slot or click on the Straight Slot icon
Click OK

Copy and paste the porthole as shown on the blueprint
Go to: Tools > Sketch Tools > Copy or click on the Copy icon
Click in the blue Start point box and select one point of the Slot
Click OK

Copy the other six portholes in the same way as shown on the blueprint

Switch the Display Style back from Wireframe into Shaded With Edges to make the
body of the hull visible again
Go to: Insert > Cut > Extrude or click on the Extruded Cut icon
Change into 50 mm

Create a new plane
Go to: Insert > Reference Geometry > Plane or click on the New Plane icon
Click OK

Create a new sketch on Plane2
Change the dimension of the circle into 40 mm as shown in the picture by clicking on the dimension button

Create a 3D Sketch
Select one outer edge of the porthole, hold down the Control key and select the other edges of the porthole
as shown in the picture
Go to: Tools > Sketch Tools > Convert Entities or click on the Convert Entities button
Click OK

Create a Solid Sweep
