How Can I Install and Configure Salesforce


Authenticator?

Challenge: How Can I Install and Configure Salesforce Authenticator?


Solution: Download and install version 3 or later of the Salesforce Authenticator app for
the type of mobile device you use. For iPhone, get the app from the App Store. For Android
devices, get the app from Google Play.

A. For iOS users

1. Open App store and search for ‘Salesforce Authenticator’ app.

2. Click ‘Get’ to start downloading the app.
3. Wait until the app has been completely downloaded, then click ‘Open’ to start the app.

B. For Android users

1. Open the Google Play Store and search for ‘Salesforce Authenticator’ app.

2. Click ‘Install’ to start downloading the app. Hit ‘Accept’ button to allow access on your
mobile device.

3. Wait until the app has been completely downloaded, then click ‘Open’ to start the app.

* Please note that the following steps are applicable for both iOS and Android phones.

4. After opening the app, swipe your phone to run through the introduction or click ‘Skip Tour’ to end tour.

5. Enter your mobile number for the verification and to receive notifications. The app will text you a link to
verify your number to start a backup of your accounts or restore accounts from an existing backup.
**You may also opt to Skip this step.

6. Click ‘Send’ to receive the verification link.

7. Click the auto-generated link provided to


verify your number.

8. The app will prompt you to set a 4-digit passcode. You will use this in case you need to restore
your accounts.

(Optional: Click the ‘Set longer passcode’ and set more complex passcode to back up your
Authenticator accounts.)

9. Click on ‘Add an Account’. The app should give unique two-word phrase. Take note of this phrase
which will be used for enrolling the Salesforce Authenticator. Keep the app open on your phone.

10. Log in to https://maersk.lightning.force.com using your username and password. Tick
‘Remember me’ before you login.

11. Below screen appears where you will enter the two-word phrase from the Salesforce
Authenticator app. Then click Connect.

12. You will be prompted to check your mobile device to verify the connection.

13. Press Connect in Salesforce Authenticator app. Confirmation will be received that account has
been successfully paired with authenticator. Press Got It.

14. Another prompt will appear on your browser to check your mobile device to approve the request to log
in to Salesforce.
Note : From this time onwards, whenever you login to Salesforce using username and password,
Salesforce Authenticator will send you a push notification with all the details of the login request, asking
you to ‘Approve’ if it’s you or ‘Deny’ if it’s not.

14. Press Approve on your mobile to successfully login to Salesforce.

Challenge: Getting error “The service is temporarily unavailable. Try again later. “

Solution: Click Use a Different Verification Method

1. Select “Use a code from an authenticator app” then click Continue.

2. Open Salesforce Authenticator app and get the 6-digit code displayed on the screen.

3. Update the 6-digit code then click Verify to successfully login to Salesforce.
