2 Typical Application
The OptiX OSN 810 applies to metro edge nodes, and supports point-to-point networking and
chain networking.
The OptiX OSN 810 is used to implement the C-RAN bearer solution. Figure 2-1 shows the
application of the OptiX OSN 810 in the WDM system.
Figure 2-1 Application of the OptiX OSN 810 in the WDM system
The OptiX OSN 810 connects to the C12X5 board of the OptiX OSN equipment to
implement hybrid service transmission. It supports two networking modes:
l Point-to-point networking, where optical line 1+1 protection is optional, as shown in
Figure 2-3 and Figure 2-4
l Two-fiber chain networking, as shown in Figure 2-5
The following table describes the mapping between the interconnected OptiX OSN 810 and
C12X5 board.

Service Autonegotiation
In autonegotiation mode, the service rate at the BBU port of the C12X5 board is fixed, and the
C12X5 board can automatically adapt to the received CPRI services. The OptiX OSN 810 can
also automatically adapt to the received CPRI services. Therefore, you do not need to
manually configure the types of received services. Figure 2-2 shows the procedure of service
autonegotiation.
The prerequisites for using the service autonegotiation function are as follows:
l The BBU port rate of the C12X5 board is fixed.
l The total bandwidth of the received services is equal to or less than 50 Gbit/s.

NOTE
In the case of optical line 1+1 protection, the OptiX OSN equipment interconnected with the OSN 810 must
be equipped with both the C12X5 and OLP boards.

NOTE
In cascading scenarios, the C12X5 board (on the OptiX OSN 1800 equipment) connected to the OptiX OSN
810 must be equivalently cascaded. To be specific, one OptiX OSN 810 connects to one C12X5 board. They
can implement service autonegotiation after being connected.

The following table lists the product versions related to this document.
Equipment Type
The logical board of the OptiX OSN 810 is OSN810(C12X5R). The manufacturer
information of the equipment varies depending on equipment functions, presenting different
equipment types.

fiber, DC, with extended ports)
050N1T12DDEC Full outdoor CPRI service convergence device-C (12 ports, two-
fiber, DC, with extended ports)
The OptiX OSN 810 supports functions and features such as wavelength conversion and
service convergence.
For details about the functions and features, see Table 4-1.

Automatically After the interconnected C12X5 board automatically goes online, the
going online C12X5 board detects the OSN 810 through DCN channels. The NMS can
automatically create a logic board for the OSN 810.
NOTE
l If the database of the system control board is cleared, the NMS cannot
automatically create logic boards for the C12X5 board and OptiX OSN 810.
Instead, the logic boards must be manually created.
l After the OptiX OSN 810 goes offline, if the DCN channels of the C12X5
board are deleted or disabled and then the fiber connection to the OSN 810 is
restored, the OptiX OSN 810 can automatically go online only after the DCN
channels of the C12X5 board are enabled.

services
The OptiX OSN 810 consists of the client-side optical module, WDM-side optical module,
Clock module, signal processing module, communication module, and power supply module.
Figure 5-1 Functional modules and signal flow of the OptiX OSN 810
In the signal flow of the OptiX OSN 810, the transmit and the receive directions are defined.
The transmit direction is defined as the direction from the client side of the OptiX OSN 810 to
the WDM side of the OptiX OSN 810, and the receive direction is defined as the reverse
direction.
l Transmit direction
The client-side optical module receives 12 channels of the optical signals from client
equipment through the RX1-RX12 interfaces interface, and performs O/E conversion.
After performing the O/E conversion, the client-side optical module sends the electrical
signals to the signal processing module. Then, the signal processing module performs
encapsulation, OTN framing, and FEC encoding and outputs one channel of OTUX5
signals to the WDM-side optical module.
After receiving the OTUX5 signals, the WDM-side optical module performs E/O
conversion, generates optical signals over DWDM wavelengths that comply with ITU-T
G.694.1, and then outputs the optical signals through the OUT optical interfaces.
l Receive direction
The WDM-side optical module receives optical signals over DWDM wavelengths that
comply with ITU-T G.694.1 through the IN optical interfaces. The WDM-side optical
module then converts the optical signals into electrical signals.
After the O/E conversion, the electrical signals are sent to the signal processing module,
which performs OTUX5 framing, FEC decoding, demapping, and decapsulation for the
signals and then outputs 12 channels of client electrical signals.
The 12 channels of client electrical signals are sent to the client-side optical module,
which converts the electrical signals into optical signals and then outputs the optical
signals through the TX1-TX12 optical interfaces.
NOTE
The MI/MO port is a cascading port on the OSN 810. The MI port multiplexes multiplexed signals from
another OSN 810 into the local OSN 810 while the MO port multiplexes multiplexed signals from the local
OSN 810 into another OSN 810.
There are symbols, indicators and ports on the front panel of the OptiX OSN 810.
The silkscreen of the MO/MI/IN/OUT ports is available in three types, as shown in Figure
6-2. Figure 6-1 shows only one type.

NOTE
The LAN port is only used for production commissioning before delivery. It is disabled before delivery and
can be enabled only by using DIP switches. During deployment on the live network, ensure that the LAN port
is disabled.

The DIP switches control the enabling/disabling status of the LAN port. You can open the
maintenance cavity to view the DIP switches. The LAN port is disabled by default, as shown

a:The maximum power consumption is the power consumed by the board when it works
normally under the highest ambient temperature.
NOTE
There is a margin between the input power low alarm threshold and the receiver sensitivity and a margin
between the input power high alarm threshold and the overload point. This ensures that the system can
report an input power low alarm before the actual input power reaches the receiver sensitivity or an input
power high alarm before the actual input power reaches the overload point.
