Year 8 – Mobile app development Lesson plan

Lesson 6

Lesson 6: app development

Introduction

Welcome to the final lesson of the Mobile App Development unit! In today's
lesson, students will have the opportunity to review and provide feedback on
their peers' app designs. Following the peer review session, we'll proceed with a
tutorial on creating a second screen and adding functionality to link between the
two screens. Students will then apply what they've learned by implementing a
second screen in their own app designs and creating buttons to navigate
between screens. Additionally, we'll introduce the concept of testing and discuss
the importance of creating test plans to ensure app functionality and user
experience.

Learning objectives

 Continue developing your Health and Fitness Tracker apps.

 Collaborate with peers to troubleshoot problems, test app functionality,

and provide feedback on each other's app development progress.

 Reflect on the app development experience and identify areas for

improvement in future projects.

Key vocabulary

Peer review, buttons, links, testing, test plans, feedback, functionality

Preparation
Subject knowledge:
Before delivering this lesson, familiarize yourself with the basics of app design and
coding using App Lab. Ensure you have access to a computer lab or devices with internet
access for students to use You will need:

Assessment opportunities

Observation of students' participation in peer review sessions and engagement

in app development tasks can provide insights into their understanding of app
design concepts and their ability to implement them effectively. Additionally,
assessing students' contributions to class discussions and their self-assessment
during the plenary session can gauge their reflection and evaluation skills.
