ADDENDUM
Trilithic Company Profile

Addendum Overview
This Operation Manual Addendum highlights all changes that have been made to the EASyPLUS
Configuration Software as follows;
• Changes to the System, Configuration, Audio, CGs, EASyNET, I/O Ports, and Utilities Tabs
between Version 5.15 and Version 6.30 of the software.
• Changes to the Digital Tab between Version 6.07 and Version 6.30 of the software.

Note: EASyPLUS related manuals can be accessed by visiting
www.trilithic.com, selecting the Emergency Alert System graphic, and
selecting the “Product Manuals” link on the right-hand side of the page
(just below the “Select a product...” drop-down box).
Overview
The following items have changed in the System Tab as described below;

1. Add System Button - The content of the window that appears when this button is selected
has been revised to remove the System Telephone Number.
2. Modify System Button - The content of the window that appears when this button is
selected has been revised to remove the System Telephone Number.
3. Device Connection Configuration Area - The content of this area of the System Tab has
been revised to add the IP Address and Port Number fields.
Modify System
When a user selects the Modify System Button, the following window appears. Notice that the
user is no longer required to enter the system telephone number when modifying systems. The
system telephone number is now only entered directly in the System Tab, Device Connection
Configuration Area.
Overview
The following items have changed in the Configuration Tab as described below;
1. General Configuration Area - The content of this section of the window has been revised
to add the Decoder Mode drop down box, Automatically Login to EASyPLUS
Software and Automatically Run EASyPLUS Software on Startup check boxes.
2. Password & Input Configuration Area - The content of this section of the window has
been revised to remove the Attention Tone Length (sec) field and to add the
Diagnostics Channel dropdown box.
3. Required Weekly Test Configuration Area - The content of this section of the window
has been revised to replace the Automatically Generate Weekly Tests check box with a
dropdown box that is used to select the counties in which the automatic weekly tests will be
sent to.

1. Decoder Mode - This dropdown box has been added so the user can specify the type
of decoder mode as follows;
• Conservative - This mode looks for an exact match of two out of three EAS
Headers received off air.
• Normal - This mode looks for a match of two out of three EAS Headers with the
exception of any trailing characters.
• Aggressive - This mode attempts to piece together a valid EAS Header using
a character by character two out of three match on all three EAS Headers.
2. Automatically Login to EASyPLUS Software - This check box has been added to
enable/disable automatic login to the EASyPLUS Configuration Software. When
enabled, the software does not require the password to be entered when the program
is started.
3. Automatically Run EASyPLUS Software on Startup - This check box has been
added to enable/disable automatic startup of the EASyPLUS Configuration Software
upon Windows startup.
1. Moved the Attention Tone Length (sec) dropdown box from the Configuration Tab to
the Audio Tab.
2. Diagnostic Channel - Added this dropdown box to allow the user to select whether to
provide additional logging information about incoming EAS messages from the
specified channel. This additional information can be used in diagnosing poor
reception of EAS signals.
1. Replaced the Automatically Generate Weekly Tests check box with a dropdown box
that is used to select the counties in which the automatic weekly tests will be sent to as
follows;
• Disabled - This selection will disable required weekly tests.
• Enabled using County of License - This selection will send automatic weekly
tests using the location code of the county of license that is selected in the
Counties Tab.
• Enabled using All Selected Counties - This selection will send automatic
weekly tests using the location codes for all of the counties that are selected in
the Counties Tab.
1. Attention Tone Length (seconds) - This field has been moved from the Configuration
Tab. The function of this field has not changed in the move from the Configuration Tab.
1. Enable Legacy External SCG-1 Support - This check box has been added to provide
support for legacy character generators.
2. Crawl for the Duration of the Alert - This check box has been added to enable the
continued crawl of an EAS message on the Details Channel until the expiration time of the
message. The expiration time of the message can be from 15 minutes to several hours.

The following items have changed in the Digital Tab as described below;

1. Messages Tab - The content of the window that appears when this tab is selected has
been revised.
2. Enable SNTP - This check box has been added to enable the Simple Network Time
Protocol (SNTP) feature of the EASyPLUS.
3. IP GPO Devices Tab - This tab has been added to configure the IP General Output Device
feature of the EASyPLUS.
4. SNMP Tab - This tab has been added to configure the Simple Network Management
Protocol (SNMP) feature of the EASyPLUS.
5. Primary SNTP Server Configuration Area - The content of this section of the window
has been added to configure the Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) of the
EASyPLUS.

1. Primary SNTP Server - Added this field to allow the user to enter the network address
of the primary SNTP Server.
2. Secondary SNTP Server - Added this field to allow the user to enter the network
address of the secondary SNTP Server.
3. SNTP Time Sync Interval - Added this field to allow the user to enter the time
synchronization interval between the SNTP Server and the EASyPLUS.

1. Descriptors Tab - This tab has been added to provide additional configuration options for
any of the message protocols that are shown in the note below.
2. Exceptions Tab - This tab has been added to provide additional configuration options for
any of the message protocols that are shown in the note below.
Note: For the Descriptor and Exception Tabs to appear, one of the
following message protocols must be selected;
• SCTE 18, UDP Port (MPEG Packets)
• SCTE 18, DOCSIS Set-top Gateway
• SCTE 18, TCP/IP Socket (MPEG Packets)
• SCTE 18, TCP/IP Socket (Raw MPEG Table)
3. Message Protocol Area - The content of this section of the window has been revised to
add the Use Event Start Time for this Message, Send back-to-back SCTE-18
messages, and Use the Discontinuity Indicator check boxes to provide additional
configuration options when one of the message protocols that are listed in the note above
are selected.

1. Use Event Start Time for this Message - This check box is used to place the
event start time from the EAS header into the outgoing SCTE-18 message.
2. Send back-to-back SCTE-18 messages - This check box is used to allow two
messages to be sent (one right after the other) at the start of a new message. This
is used to provide redundant start messages and to insure that host devices do not
reject the sequence number of a message.
3. Use the Discontinuity Indicator - This check box is used to allow the addition of
an adaptation field with a discontinuity indicator to the first packet of each EAM
table.
Note: For the Descriptor Tab to appear, one of the following message
protocols must be selected;
• SCTE 18, UDP Port (MPEG Packets)
• SCTE 18, DOCSIS Set-top Gateway
• SCTE 18, TCP/IP Socket (MPEG Packets)
• SCTE 18, TCP/IP Socket (Raw MPEG Table)

1. Private Descriptor Option - When this dropdown box is set to VCM, the VecimaTM
private descriptor option of the EASyPLUS is enabled. This descriptor provides
information on how the Edge Decoder acquires the Audio/Video stream from the
MPEG Encoder connected to the EASyPLUS Audio/Video outputs.
2. IGMPv2 Group Address - This field is used to provide the multicast group address
to the CableVistaTM.
3. IGMPv3 Source Address - This field is used to provide the multicast source
address to the CableVistaTM if using IGMP Version 3.
NDS Option

1. Private Descriptor Option - When this dropdown box is set to NDS, the NDS
private descriptor option is enabled. This descriptor provides information to the set
top boxes on how to acquire the Audio/Video stream from the MPEG Encoder
connected to the EASyPLUS Audio/Video outputs. In addition, a list of program
streams that are exempted from processing the EAS message can be sent to the
set top boxes.
2. Enter the Original Network ID, Transport Stream ID, and Service ID of the
exception and select the ACCEPT button.

1. General Configuration Area - These options have been added to set the general
configuration of the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) feature of the
EASyPLUS.
2. Unlock SNMP Support Button - This button has been added so the user can unlock the
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) feature of the EASyPLUS.
3. SNMP Trap Messages IP Configuration Area - This area has been added to manage
the device IP addresses for the SNMP trap messages. Select the ADD button to add the IP
address of the devices that will send SNMP trap messages. Select the DELETE button to
delete the selected device IP address. Devices to be added must first be configured on the
Devices Tab.
• Select the UNLOCK Button. The following window will appear, select the OK Button to
confirm the activation of the SNMP option.
• The SNMP Tab will update to show the following message when the SNMP option has
been activated.

1. ENABLE SNMP - This check box is used to enable the Simple Network Management
Protocol (SNMP) feature of the EASyPLUS.
2. Enable Heartbeat Trap Messages - This check box is used to enable periodic traps
informing the Management server that the EASyPLUS is online and operational.
3. Enable EAS Activation Trap Messages - This check box is used to enables traps at
the start and end of outgoing EAS messages.
4. Enable EAS Logging Trap Messages - This check box is used to enable trap
messages when the EASyPLUS adds a log entry to its internal log. The information
contained in the trap is the same information that is added to the internal log.
5. Allow Configuration Changes via SNMP - This check box is used to allow SNMP
based changes to the EASyPLUS configuration.
6. Allow EAS Messages to be Encoded - This check box is used to allow EAS
messages to be activated via SNMP.
7. Allow EAS Messages to be Aborted - This check box is used to allow SNMP to abort
outgoing EAS messages.
8. Allow EASyPLUS Units to be Reset - This check box is used to allow the SNMP
server to reboot the EASyPLUS.
9. Allow System Tests - This check box is used to allow the SNMP server to activate
non-EAS tests which may interrupt subscriber audio and/or video.
1. IP General Output Device Configuration Area - This area has been added to enable
and configure IP based contact-closure devices.
2. Test GPO Device Area - This area has been added so the user can test the selected GPO
device.

1. Enable IP GPO Devices - This check box is used to enable the IP General Output
Device feature of the EASyPLUS.
2. Select IP GPO Devices Area - This area has been added to manage the device IP
addresses for the general output devices. Select the ADD Button to add the IP address
of the general output devices. Select the DELETE Button to delete the selected general
output device IP address. Devices to be added must first be configured on the Devices
Tab.
3. Port - This field has been added so the user can select the TCP port of the selected
general output device.

1. Test Output Condition Area - This area is used to select the test output condition as
follows;
• Clear Outputs - This option is used to open (break contact) the selected IP
contact closure when the Test GPO Device Button is selected.
• Set Outputs - This option is used to close (open contact) the selected IP
contact closure when the Test GPO Device Button is selected.
2. Test GPO Device Button - This button is used to send a control message to the IP
address that is highlighted in the “Select IP GPO Devices” list. The control message
sent is either Clear Outputs or Set Outputs depending on the “Test Output Condition”
that is selected. To end a test, set the Test Output Condition to “Clear Outputs” and
select the Test GPO Device Button.
Overview
The following items have changed in the EASyNET Tab as described below;
1. MODEM / Telephone Connection Configuration Area - This area has been revised to
rename the Enable EASyNET MODEM and Enable EASyNET Touch-Tone Access
check boxes and to add the Enable Touch-tone Access Custom Messages check box
to enable support for custom messaging software.
2. Touch-Tone Access Custom Messages Area - This area has been revised to remove
the Unlock EASyNET MODEM Control and View EASyNET Instructions Buttons.
These buttons have been replaced by the Unlock Custom Text Messages and Edit /
Program Custom Messages Buttons.

1. Enable EASyNET Data MODEM - This check box has been renamed from its
previous name of Enable EASyNET MODEM.
2. Enable EASyNET DTMF Touch-Tone Access - This check box has been renamed
from its previous name of Enable EASyNET Touch-Tone Access.
3. Enable Touch-tone Access Custom Messages - This check box has been added to
enable support for custom messaging software.

1. Unlock Custom Text Messages Button - This button has been added so the user can
unlock the custom text message feature of the EASyPLUS.
• The custom text message option must be purchased from Trilithic. Once the
option has been purchased, Trilithic will provide an unlock code based on the
EASyPLUS Identifier Code.
• Select the UNLOCK Button. The following window will appear, select the OK
Button to confirm the activation of the custom text message option.
• The Touch-Tone Access Custom Messages Area will update to show the
following message when the custom text message option has been activated.
2. Edit / Program Custom Messages Button - This button has been added so the user
can launch the EASyNET Messaging Software (if installed) from the EASyPLUS
Configuration Software.
1. Communications Protocol Area - This area has been added to provide support for the
Compliance Assistant Software and Custom Messaging Software with Version Numbers
earlier than 2.0.
2. COM2 Serial Port Logging Area - This area has been added to enable EAS text to be
output on COM 2 at 9600 Baud.
Overview
The following items have changed in the Utilities Tab as described below;

been revised.
1. Tune-To-Audio - This check box has been renamed from its previous name of User
