Install the AT500

1. Put TCP/IP controller (AT500) inside the cabinet.

2. Mount the Cabinet besides the rack to shorten the cable length from
the AT500 to the first terminal block on the bus.
3. It would be better to put the AC outlet (110V/220V) inside the cabinet.

Conduction bar loading curve

Means 6 M conduction bar can put maximum 10 devices if just using one terminal block
22 ABLEPick Installation guide
Basic rule for AT590 (terminal blok, TB)
and conduction bar (CBAR)
1. The shorter of cable length from AT500 to the first TB would be better. Maximum is
under 10 meters. The longer of this cable will decrease the number of lights could
be driven by controller.
2. In other words, if the total length of CBAR is longer, then the cable length from
AT500 to the first TB should be shorter in order to decrease the voltage dropping .
3. AT500 should be installed besides the rack, near the lights.
4. The maximum number of devices connected to one output channel is under 30
lights.
5. The best number of lights put on a 3M CBAR is 12 pcs of lights and just use one TB
(see the relationship chart).
6. If the length of CBAR is longer than 3M, and the lights are more than 12 pcs, either
cut the CBAR into several segments with 1 TB on it , or add on another 2 or 3 TBs
on this one segment of CBAR.
7. The total length of CBAR for one output channel is under 20 meters would be better
(depending on the voltage dropping situation).

Noted for AT500 installation

1.Record each AT500’s IP address and make up one management table

2.When power on, make sure the correct power switch on 230V or 115V
3.AT500 must be put into the power rack, can not be put on ground directly
4.Mount the power rack with AT500 on Rack will be helpful for heat released.
5.Take the pulverulence around the installation site into concern.
6.Rack grounding.
7.It would be better that cable length is under 10m from the output channel to the
first TB
8. The total length from AT500 to the end of one bus is less than 30M for each
output channel.
8.Avoiding the short happening on the output channel for 1A1B~4A4B or on the
cabling on TB

36 ABLEPick Installation guide

Polling range

The data exchanging range for Controller to communicate with

its connecting devices.

Normally, Polling Range >= maximum node address of device

that controller connect to.

Best polling range == maximum node address

Polling range < Maximum node address ->

Some device will show “FF” on display.

Configure TCP/IP controller’s polling range to best value

37 ABLEPick Installation guide

Detect Device’s status
After configure device’s node address, Using Wtagtest tool to detect each AT500’s
device status.( refer the user manual of Wtagtest)

38 ABLEPick Installation guide

Detecting Device’s status
The below screen message means:
1) Current polling range = 250, getting total 40 tags.
2) There is no any device on node = 09.
3) Maximum node address = 49.

39 ABLEPick Installation guide

Detecting Device’s status

Using “HW test” to auto-configure AT500’s best polling range.

After configuration, the screen will change to new message as below :

1) Best polling range = 49
2) There is no any devices on node, 9 & 41 ~ 48.

40 ABLEPick Installation guide

Voltage dropping inspection
The device will have maximum power consumption when it display “888888”.
We could turn on all devices by sending “888888” to see if every one could work well
or not. If someone reset, especially at the end of bus for each output channel, that
means the power is not enough at that area.

Trouble shooting

Trouble condition :

1. Whole bus of AT500

a. No power come out from 4 ports: This caused by there is some short on bus
or some bad device let AT500 activate itself protection to cut output power off.
b. If it comes from a bad device, then the temperature of this device will grow up
higher and higher till AT500 cut power off.
c. Some noise come out from the some position on conduction bar : It may comes
from there is some short happen, or wrong polarity of terminal block.

2. Around one segment of bus.

a. Caused by bad connection/installation of AT590(terminal block), such as loosed from
conduction bar.
b. Wrong polarity (A &B) on bus.
b. the cable loosed from the output channel on AT500.

3. Device itself
a. Wrong node address setup for device
b. damaged for communication .
c. LED light damaged
d. damaged on some-segment of 7-segment display
