Safety

1 Important Notices

1.1 Safety
The following information is included in this publication for the use and safety of installation and
maintenance personnel.

1.1.1 General Safety

● Do not attempt to lift objects that you think are too heavy for you.
● Do not wear loose clothing; tie back your hair while working on machines.
● Wear eye protection when you are working in any conditions that might be hazardous to
your eyes.
● After maintenance, reinstall all safety devices such as shields, guards, labels, and ground
wires. Replace worn safety devices.
● If you feel any action is unsafe, notify your manager before proceeding.
● Do not use a telephone to report a gas leak while in the vicinity of the leak.

1.1.2 Safety with Electricity

DANGER
! Do not take chances with your life. Follow these safety guidelines carefully.

1.1.2.1 High Voltages

● Observe all safety regulations and read the warnings, cautions, and notes posted on the
equipment.
● Find the switch to power off the cabinet. Read the posted instructions.
● Ensure that a machine cannot be powered on from another source or controlled from a dif-
ferent circuit breaker or disconnecting switch.
● When a procedure requires that you power off the system:
– Lock the wall box-switch in the off position.
– Attach a DO NOT OPERATE tag to the wall box-switch.
● Never assume that the power is turned off. Always check to ensure that a circuit does not
have power.

Safety

● Do not work alone. Work with another person who knows the locations of the power-off
switches, especially if you are working with exposed electrical circuits.
● Follow the instructions in the manual carefully, especially when working with circuits that
are powered. Disconnect power when instructed to do so in the procedures.
● Disconnect all power before working near power supplies unless otherwise instructed by a
maintenance procedure.
● Disconnect all power before installing changes in machine circuits unless otherwise in-
structed by a maintenance procedure.
● High voltages capable of causing shock are used in this equipment. Be extremely careful
when measuring high voltages and when servicing cards, panels, and boards while the
system is powered on.
● Do not wear jewelry or other metal objects.
● When possible, work with one hand so that a circuit is not created. Keep the other hand in
your pocket or behind your back.
● Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines. Never install telephone wiring
during an electrical storm.
● Never install a telephone jack where it can get wet unless the jack is specifically designed
for wet conditions.
● Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been
disconnected at the network interface.
● Avoid using a telephone (other than the cordless type) during an electrical storm due to the
remote risk of shock from lightning.

1.1.2.2 Equipment Room

● Look for hazards in your area and eliminate them. Examples are moist floors, ungrounded
power extension cables, power surges, and missing safety grounds.
● Rubber electrostatic mats will not protect you from electrical shock. Do not use them for
this purpose. Stand on suitable rubber mats to insulate you from grounds such as metal
floor strips and machine frames.
● Do not use tools covered with a soft material that does not insulate you when working with
powered circuits. Use only tools and testers suitable for the job, approved by Siemens. Do
not use worn or broken tools or testers; inspect them regularly.
● Set controls on testers correctly and use approved probe leads and accessories intended
for that tester.

Safety

● The surface of a mirror is conductive. Do not touch powered circuits with a mirror. To do so
can cause personal injury and machine damage.
● Do not store combustible gases or flammable materials in cabinets near the site.

1.1.2.3 Emergencies
● Be familiar with first aid for electrical shock. This includes resuscitation methods, heartbeat
restoration, and burn treatment.
● Use caution if an accident occurs. Disconnect the power before touching the victim.
● If you do not know how to disconnect the power, use a nonconductive object, such as a
wooden rod, to push or pull the victim away from electrical contact.
● Administer resuscitation if the person is not breathing.
● If you are trained and certified, administer cardiac compression if the heart is not beating.
● Call a rescue group, an ambulance, or a hospital immediately.

1.1.3 Reporting Accidents

● Report to your manager all accidents, near accidents, and possible hazards to ensure their
causes are resolved as soon as possible.
● Report any electric shock, no matter how small.

2 Product Overview
HiPath 4000 CSTA is a Siemens Business Communications product that allows you to integrate
telephony and data processing equipment to take advantage of business applications that can
be supported only by linking these two resources. Specifically, HiPath 4000 CSTA allows you
to link the Siemens HiPath 4000 Communication Server (CS) with telephony applications re-
siding in computer system environments that support the CSTA protocol. CSTA is an interna-
tional standard for computer-controlled telephony set forth by an international standards orga-
nization called the European Computer Manufacturers Association (ECMA).
HiPath 4000 CSTA V1 is the successor of HiPath CAP Inside V1. This middleware is available
as “stand alone” variant (installable on PC) – supporting HiPath4000 V5 (and smaller), and as
second variant is integrated into the OpenScape 4000 V6. See the following picture for better

2.1 First Party and Third Party Call Control

The HiPath 4000 CSTA product allows an external application to control telephony within the
HiPath 4000. This external application is developed by computer telephony integration (CTI)
programmers. The CTI application behaves like the user of a telephone. It can initiate basic ser-
vices such as making, answering, conferencing, or transferring calls. The CTI application can
also monitor events that cause the HiPath 4000 to send the status related to the device moni-
tored. With this kind of control, the CTI application can be programmed to perform a sequence
of steps. These steps include dialing a number, waiting for the response, and making a call de-
cision based upon that response. For example, if the response indicates a busy line, the appli-
cation may hang up and place the call later, or dial another number.
HiPath 4000 CSTA supports two methods of call control: first party and third party control. Each
method is defined based on whether the application supports a single user or multiple users.
More specifically, if the CTI application supports a desktop (single user), it is thought of as pro-

viding first party control. An example of first party control is when an application residing inside
a desktop computer allows the user to control the HiPath 4000 telephony through the CTI ap-
plication. The application may present a list of names to the user, allowing the user to highlight
any name on the list in order to place a call. In this case, the application acts as an agent for
the user, issues the command to make a call, receives the HiPath 4000 response, and forwards
the called number to the HiPath 4000 for processing. In this way, the application performs sev-
eral actions for the user in response to a single action from the user.
If the application resides on a server and provides telephony control for a number of users such
as a workgroup or department, the CTI application is said to provide third party control. In third
party control, the application resides in a server connected to a LAN. The clients may send their
telephony requests directly to the server, using their personal computer applications. The serv-
er interprets the requests and issues the appropriate commands to the HiPath 4000. The CTI
application residing in the server acts as the agent for all LAN clients.

2.2 Elements of HiPath 4000 CSTA

The following section describes the elements of HiPath 4000 CSTA:

HiPath 4000 system

The HiPath 4000 is the Siemens telephony equipment that performs functions such as dialing
and transferring calls. In addition, the HiPath 4000 sends event information to the telephony
services application.

LAN Environment
The LAN environment that complements the HiPath 4000 system to enable CTI consists of one
or more client computers attached to a CTI server. The clients are able to use the CTI server
to exchange information with the HiPath 4000. The CTI server exchanges information with the
HiPath 4000 by using the Siemens proprietary CTI protocol.
The CTI server consists of two major telephony software modules: HiPath 4000 CSTA and
CSTA application software.

HiPath 4000 CSTA Architecture

The main goal of HiPath 4000 CSTA is to allow applications using the CSTA (Computer- Sup-
ported Telecommunications Applications) protocol to connect to HiPath4000 switches. CSTA
refers to the standards of the European Computer Manufacturing Association (ECMA) for Com-
puter-Telephony Integration (CTI). HiPath 4000 CSTA supports the CSTA Phase III ASN.1 pro-
tocol.
The translation between the CSTA and the ACL protocols happens in the Connectivity Adapters
(CA) called CA4000 in case of HiPath4000.
There can be multiple numbers of CA's in one HiPath 4000 CSTA installation, one Connectivity
Adapter can connect to one switch, but using multiple link pairs it's possible to have more Con-
nectivity Adapters to use the same switch.
Maximum 4 applications can connect to a CA at the same time.

Preparing the Installation Site

3 Planning for Installation of HiPath 4000 CSTA

This chapter tells you how to prepare your site and personnel for installing HiPath 4000 CSTA,
and how to order the equipment and services needed for the installation.

3.1 Preparing the Installation Site

Your site will use TCP/IP as well as remote access. This section describes what you need to
do in each instance. To prepare your site for installation of the HiPath 4000 CSTA and remote
access, do the following:
1. Determine the environmental requirements for the room in which the equipment is to be
installed.
2. Estimate the distance between the HiPath 4000 and the computer telephony integration
(CTI) server.
● TCP/IP Connection
The HiPath 4000 and the CTI server should be located within 100 meters of each oth-
er. The cable connecting the CTI server to the HiPath 4000 is an Ethernet cable (twist-
ed pair using RJ45).
● Remote Access
A modem is required for remote console access. Maintenance and diagnostic proce-
dures may then be performed from a remote location. Refer to Section 4.11, “Installing
pcANYWHERE32 8.0 Remote Connectivity Software”, on page 4-25.

3.2 Reviewing Skills and Tasks

The following paragraphs describe the skills and tasks required to install and maintain HiPath
4000 CSTA. To prepare the personnel at your site for installation of HiPath 4000 CSTA, review
these skills and tasks to ensure that all team members understand their assigned responsibil-
ities.

4.3 Preparing for the HiPath 4000 (V5 or older) Hardware Installation
This chapter corresponds only to the HiPath 4000 V5 (or older version)!
The HiPath 4000 system has integrated Ethernet server buses, which can be used to connect
the HiPath 4000 CSTA Server via an Ethernet TCP/IP connection. A TCP/IP connection is a
logical data connection between two addresses, each consisting of a port number (for the TCP)
and a logical IP address. With this type of configuration, a number of different logical destina-
tions can be reached via one physical address, the TCP port number. The transmission control
protocol ensures that the transmitted data pakets reach the logical Internet Protocol destination
address in the correct sequence and without loss. If an error occurs, the entire connection is
terminated.

Preparing for the HiPath 4000 (V5 or older) Hardware Installation

4.3.1 Atlantic LAN Connectivity

4.3.1.1 Connecting to the Atlantic LAN

The physical interface between the HiPath 4000 and the HiPath 4000 CSTA is an unshielded
twisted pair line to the internal Hicom Ethernet LAN. The internal ("Atlantic") LAN provides a
high data bandwidth for communication between the HiPath 4000 processors, and is therefore
ideally suited for data communication between the HiPath 4000 processors and HiPath 4000
CSTA. The internal Hicom Ethernet LAN is directly available on the backplane of HiPath 4000.
If more than one HiPath 4000 CSTA server is connected to the same Atlantic LAN, each server
must be given a unique IP address, an external hub is needed. The physical connection to an
external hub is always a standard, twisted pair cable. An external hub can be any commercially
available hub with RJ45 ports, e.g. 3Com Office Connect Ethernet Hub 4 (4 TP/RJ45 ports),
3Com order reference 3C16 704A. The hub ports should always have MDI / MDIX switches.

4.3.1.2 IP-Addresses
Servers connected to the Atlantic LAN are accessed via IP addresses (IP network numbers
plus server numbers). The IP network number of the Atlantic LAN is ’192.0.2’, which defines a
Class C internet address. All the servers connected to the Atlantic LAN use this network num-
ber.
The IP addresses of the Hicom components are fixed, as follows:
CC-A: 192.0.2.1
CC-B: 192.0.2.2
ADS/ADP: 192.0.2.3
The following address ranges are reserved for the external applications:
ext. ACD-Server: 192.0.2.10 - 192.0.2.19 (default: 192.0.2.16)
HiPath CAP: 192.0.2.23 - 192.0.2.29 (default: 192.0.2.25)
If more than one HiPath HiPath 4000 CSTA is connected to the same Atlantic LAN, each server
must be given a unique IP address. The default address for the first HiPath 4000 CSTA server
is 192.0.2.25; for each additional server, the address is incremented by 1 (192.0.2.26,
192.0.2.27, etc.). Maximal 5 servers can be connected.

In case of any IP address other than 192.0.2.25, it is necessary to do the following:

I 1. From the MS Command Prompt, enter
edit c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
2. At the bottom of the hosts file, enter the following string:
<CAP Server IP address> tab and enter cbadmin-server
3. Save your changes upon exiting.

csta0042.fm

Configuring the HiPath 4000 Software

4.3.1.3 TCP Port Numbers

Each CSTA application must also be assigned a unique TCP port number.
The numbers reserved for this purpose range from 1025 to 5000. The default TCP port num-
bers for CSTA applications are:
1st application: 1040
2nd application: 1041
3rd application: 1042
4th application: 1043

4.3.2 Connecting to the SL200 board or the WAML board

On the Atlantic LAN the IP addresses of the HiPath components are fixed, so it is not possible
to configure more PBXes on the same LAN. This limitation can be avoided using the SL200
board or the WAML board.
The IP addresses of these LAN boards are configurable and the Atlantic LAN is accessible via
these boards.

The WAML board and the SL200 board cannot be configured at the same time.
!

4.4 Configuring the HiPath 4000 Software

4.4.1 Configuring the connection to the Atlantic LAN

The HiPath 4000 CSTA and the HiPath 4000 need to be configured specially before the system
can operate; i.e. certain parameters must be set in each case.
The HiPath parameters are set with the aid of MML command batches (AMOs).
If more than one gateway is to be configured for the same HiPath System, separate ACL-C ap-
plication parameters must be set in the HiPath 4000 in each case.
The following basic activities must always be carried out for each installation:
1. maximum number of ACL-C applications must be set
AMO: DIMSU
parameter: DGV:
2. maximum number of Monitored Devices must be set
AMO: DIMSU (dimensioning of features, switching unit)
parameter: ACDMONID, number of monitored id sets (e.g. acd agents - only acd-g)

The maximum number of permitted Monitored Devices. Any attempt by the application to
set more monitoring points than permitted by the maximum number of monitored devices
will be rejected.
3. Call processing timers must be set
AMO: CTIME, customer-specific cp timers, switching unit
Administrating the call processing timers, which are evaluated by the "MakeCall" event.
4. Physical ports for TCP/IP data communication must be configured
AMO: CPTP, communication parameters for tcp/ip-connection
Type: DVAVERB
5. Application interface parameters must be set (transport address)
AMO: CPTP, communication parameters for tcp/ip-connection
Type: APPL
6. ACL Manager parameters must be configured
AMO: ACMSM, acl manager communication parameter
APPLTYP=ACLAPPL
7. Sub-application parameters must be configured
AMO: XAPPL, DVA - application ACL
8. amo applications administration
AMO: APC
Some of the parameters set with AMOs must also match the corresponding values set in the
configuration of HiPath CAP.
In particular, these are:
Password (ACMSM)
Send/receive block size (ACMSM)
P address of gateway (CPTP)
ACL-C events generated (XAPPL)
Sub-application ID (XAPPL)

In HiPath 4000 "monoprocessor" system (only one CPU for ADS and SWU func-
I tions), the ACM is activated and then resident in the SWU!
In case of a “dualprocessor system” the ACM should be activated in the ADS!
For AMOs used on the HiPath 4000 refer to Appendix A, “Administration on HiPath/
Hicom”

4.4.2 Configuring the connection to the SL200 board

The Atlantic LAN has to be properly configured, before you start the SL200 board configuration.
To setup the SL200 card for use with HiPath 4000 CSTA, the UnixWare Service Tool 'Unix Base
Administration' (UBA) must be used. The service tool UBA can be found under HiPath 4000
Assistant, in the LaunchPad2 under the folder 'Base Administration'.
If you have already correctly setup the LAN Configuration for the SL200 via the 'LAN Cards' and
'Routes' options with UBA, then you can skip ahead to the 'Settings for Firewall' section.

4.4.2.1 Using and Setting up HiPath 4000 Assistant and UBA

On a PC connected directly to the Atlantic LAN, in a Web browser go to the Public Area of Hi-
Path 4000 Assistant at http://192.0.2.5 and follow the steps in the Client Preparation link. After
this is done, using your browser go to UBA at the following link: https://192.0.2.5/UBA
First the LAN Card must be configured. Under LAN Configuration click on the 'LAN Cards'
menu point. The table should be empty in the right-hand frame (if the frame is not empty then
the LAN Card has already been setup, if it was setup in UBA don't set it up again). Click on the
'New LAN Card Configuration' icon (top right in righthand frame), and fill in the IP Address, Net-
mask and Broadcast values provided by your System Administrator for the SL200 card and add
this card to the entry. After a few seconds the LAN card entry will appear in the table. Then re-
boot UnixWare with either 'ShutDown' or in by typing 'shutdown -y -g0' in a Unix shell as a priv-
iledged user.

Installing/Deinstalling the HiPath 4000 CSTA Software

4.7 Installing/Deinstalling the HiPath 4000 CSTA Software

Remark: Upgrade installation of the HiPath 4000 CSTA is not possible!

4.7.1 Installation under Windows

The installation user must have local administrator priviledges.
A system reboot is not required by this installation.
The installation requires less then 1 GB disk space. Disk space will be checked by the installa-
tion procedure.
Insert the HiPath 4000 CSTA CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If the “Autorun” property of your
CD-ROM drive is enabled, the installation will start automatically. Otherwise double-click on the
“setup.exe” program on your CD-ROM with the help of Windows Explorer.
The following dialogs are standard installation dialogs. If the user presses the “Cancel” Button
in any dialog, the installation will be aborted and all performed changes on the system will be
reversed (Rollback).
The HiPath 4000 CSTA is an MSI package with a setup launcher setup.exe. Please run set-
up.exe and follow the instructions of the installation process. The last step of the installation will
be the configuration of CA, installing a new PBX link. (See Section 5.2, “Installing, configuring
and removing a PBX connection”).

4.7.2 Installation under Linux SUSE (SLES10)

1. Login as "root" on the Linux system
2. Install the rpm package as required:
rpm -i HiPath4000CSTA-10.200-0.i586.rpm
3. Starting the service:
/etc/init.d/HiPath4000CSTA start
3. You can reach the CBAdmin from another PC or on the Linux (in a graphical user interface)
by starting an internet browser and adding the address:
http://<IP of the CSTA server>:8080/CBAdmin/

Installing/Deinstalling the HiPath 4000 CSTA Software

4.7.3 Deinstallation under Windows

The HiPath 4000 CSTA SW will be deinstalled by selecting the “HiPath 4000 CSTA” software
in the Add/Remove Programs Applet of the Control Panel and clicking the “Remove” button.
The deinstallation user must have local administrator priviledges as it is required for the instal-
lation.
There no are prerequisites for the deinstallation. The HiPath 4000 CSTA System Service will
be stopped automatically and if the HiPath 4000 CSTA Admin Application is still running, the
deinstallation user will be prompted during deinstallation (see below).
If the "Connectivity Adapter Service" is started or stopped via Services snap-in for Microsoft
Management Console, the Console will keep a handle on the "Connectivity Adapter Service".
If Connectivity Adapter is deinstalled in this situation, the "Connectivity Adapter Service" could
not be completely removed, because a handle from the Management Console is still open. The
"Connectivity Adapter Service" is marked for deletion after the next reboot instead. Trying to
install HiPath 4000 CSTA again will fail without a reboot, because the "Connectivity Adapter
Service" is still registered in the database of the Service Control Manager (SCM) of the oper-
ating system.
The service will successfully be removed/deinstalled once the Services snap-in (Management
Console) is closed before Deinstallation. Otherwise the system has to be rebooted before a re-
installation of HiPath 4000 CSTA.
In case the deinstallation successfully performed then the Administration program will be
prompted to let the user remove the installed driver instances. They do not have to be removed
because of possible future Connectivity Adapter installations since the configuration and log
files could be useful.
Remark: There is no need to stop the service Service via snap-in. This will be done automati-
cally by the deinstallation procedure.

4.7.4 Deinstallation under Linux SUSE (SLES10)

1. Login as "root" on the Linux system
2. Create an overview of installed HiPath 4000 CSTA package
rpm -q -a | grep CSTA
(-q for query, -a for all)
3. Uninstall rpm packages as required
rpm -e -v <package_1>
(-v for verbose information)
In case all of the installed HiPath 4000 CSTA package is to be uninstalled, it is possible to
combine both steps
rpm -e -v $(rpm -q -a | grep CSTA)

Licensing

4.8 Licensing
HiPath 4000 CSTA uses HiPath License Management ("Single System Licensing" mode) for li-
censing.

Figure 4-1 HiPath License Management architecture

HiPath License Management CLC is integrated into the installer of HiPath 4000 CSTA, but as
in the case of "Single System Licensing" no configuration is necessary, the change is not visi-
ble.
The CLA and CLM components of the HiPath License Management should be installed sepa-
rately! (For more information please see: Licensing_Guideline_V5.pdf Chapter Single System
Licensing (CSC))
Licenses for HiPath 4000 CSTA are "user clients" allowing a single application of a certain in-
stallation to connect to a CA and monitor specific numers of devices.
The licenses are bound to the MAC address of installation PC.
Three license modes are available and tese differ in the number of possible monitor points. The
three modes are: “no license”, “100 clients”, and “unlimited”. For the two last modes a licens is
required which is checked at the connection of the CTI application. The maximum number of
the allowed monitor points in the different modes:

The application identifies itself with an Application-ID. These coudl be the following: CAP-Call-
Rec,CAP-CallCenter or CAP-CommCtrl.

Monitor points are counted per application connetion and if the same device has multiple mon-
itor points each of them are counted.

Licensing can be set through the web based configuration interface on the application config-
uration dialog in the “license type” option. When the license mode is changed the application
connection is automatically closed by the HiPath 4000 CSTA and the CTI application has to re-
connect.
The lciense mode is stored also in the configuration file of the corresponding CB-Driver, the
config option is the following:
LICENSE_TYPE_<applicatio id>=<license mode>
Where <application id> is a digit from 1 to 4, and the<license mode> is either “no license”,
“100_clients” or “unlimited”.
