Ex1. Create and save a document using MSWORD .

Deletion of Character, Word, line


and block of text - Undo and redo process - Moving, Copying and renaming

Aim : To create and save Ms_word document and do the operations Deletion of
Character, Word, line and block of text - Undo and redo process - Moving, Copying and
renaming

Step 1: Create a New Document

Open the Ms_word application and Click the Microsoft Office Button and Click New or
press CTRL+N on the keyboard

Step 2: Opening an Existing Document

Click the Microsoft Office Button and Click Open, or Press CTRL+O on the keyboard, or
click the Microsoft Office Button and click the name of the document in the Recent
Documents section of the window

Step 3: Saving a Document

Click the Microsoft Office Button and Click Save or Save As, or Press CTRL+S on the
keyboard, or Click the File icon on the Quick Access Toolbar

Step 4: Renaming Documents

Click the Office Button and find the file that want to rename or Right-click the
document name with the mouse and select Rename from the shortcut menu and Type the
new name for the file and press the ENTER key.

Step 5: Editing text selecting

To select text with the mouse use the following steps


a) Take the mouse pointer before the place we want to select text from and drag it to the
place till we want.
b) Select the text with keyboard Inserting & Deleting Text –

Step 6: Insert or delete text .

a) Select a block of text from beginning to the last character. To delete press Del key
from the keyboard this process will delete the entire block.
b) To delete single character use Del key or backspace key.
c) To Insert the text select the text copy the text and paste the text where ever we want.
Step 7: Undo and redo process

a) To undo the most recent design change, press CTRL+Z

b) To undo several actions, do one of the following:

 Press CTRL+Z repeatedly until the action that you want to undo is
undone.

 On the Quick Access Toolbar, click the arrow next to Undo , and then
select the actions that you want to undo.

c) To redo the most recent action that you undid, press CTRL+Y.

d) To redo several actions, do one of the following:

 Press CTRL+Y repeatedly until the actions are redone.

 On the Quick Access Toolbar, click the arrow next to Redo , and then click the
actions that we want to redo.

Ex 2. Format the Text document Character formatting - Paragraph formatting - Page formatting

Aim: To create a word document and format the character, paragraph and page

Character Formatting
Step 1: The document's text should be selected.
Step 2: To access the Font dialogue box, select Format Font.
Step 3: Choose the necessary font from the Font list to change the font.
Step 4: Choose the necessary font style from the Font style list to alter the font
style.Choose the appropriate font size from the Size list to alter the font size.
Step 5: Choose the desired font colour from the Font colour drop-down list to alter the
font colour.
Step 6: Choose the necessary underline style from the Underline style drop-down list to
determine the underlining style.
Step 7: Choose the necessary underline colour from the Underline colour drop-down list
to determine the underline colour.
Step 8: Select the check box for the specific effect, such as shadow from the Effects
section, if you wish to apply it to the text.
Paragraph Formatting
Step 1: Choose the paragraph(s) to which formatting needs to be applied.
Step 2: The paragraph dialogue box will appear when you choose Format -> Paragraph, as
seen in the following figure.
Step 3: Choose the alignment of the paragraph in the General section's Alignment drop-down
menu.
Step 4: Set the left, right, and special indents in the indentation section using the drop-down
menus for left, right, and special.
Step 5: Set the space before and after the paragraph in the Spacing section using the drop-
down menus for before and after. Selecting a number from the Line spacing drop-down list
will determine how many spaces between each line.

Step 6: To apply the formatting, click OK.


Page formatting
Step 1: Choose the page to which formatting needs to be applied
Step 2: Click Custom Margins to set your own margins
Step 3: Enter the desired margin measurements in inches for each side of the page and
Click OK
Step 4: Click the Size icon to view the preset paper sizes
Step 5: Select the desired paper size

Ex 3. Spell check the document


Finding and Replacing of text - Bookmarks and Searching for a Bookmarks - Checking Spelling
and Grammar automatically - Checking Spelling and Grammar using Dictionary

Aim:
To create a document for Finding and Replacing of text , Bookmarks and Searching for a
Bookmarks, perform to Checking Spelling and Grammar automatically and using Dictionary

Procedure
Finding and Replacing of text

Step 1: Go to Home > Replace.

Step 2: Enter the word or phrase want to replace in Find what.

Step 3:Enter new text in Replace with.

Step 4: Choose Replace All to change all occurrences of the word or phrase. Or, select Find
Next until you find the one you want to update, and then choose Replace.
Step 5: To specify only upper or lowercase in search, select More > Match case.

Bookmarks and Searching for a Bookmarks

Step 1: Select text, a picture, or a place in document where we want to insert a bookmark.

Step 2: Select the Insert tab and choose Bookmark.

Step 3: Under Bookmark name, type a name and select Add.

Step 4: Type Ctrl+G to open the Go To tab in the Find and Replace box. Under Go to what,
select Bookmark. Enter or select the bookmark name, and then select Go To.

Checking Spelling and Grammar using Dictionary


Step 1 : Click the Review tab
Step 2: Click Spelling & Grammar
Step 3: Word will display a dialog box with any issues it finds
Step 4: To fix an error, you can type the correction in the box and click Change
Step 5: To skip an error, you can click Ignore or Ignore All
Step 6: Click OK to return to your document
Automatic spelling and grammar
Step 1: Clicking the File tab
Step 2: Clicking Options
Step 3: Selecting Proofing on the left side of the dialog box
Step 4: Unchecking the desired option to stop Word from automatically marking errors
