Geometric Constraints & Dimensional Constraints - relationships between

sketch entities.

All entities have to be constrained - their position and characteristics described

and formalised. This can be achieved through Dimensional or Geometric
constraints.

Dimensional constraints show a linear or angular distance between entities.

Geometric constraints are more fundamental than this and describe the
characteristics of the relative position of entities.

Dimensional constraints- Distance- horizontal, vertical, ordinate, angular,

radius, diameter etc.

These can be given using smart dimensions command.

Geometric constraints- parallel, perpendicular, coincident, horizontal, vertical,

symmetry, equidistant, midpoint, coincident, concentric, equal etc.

These can be given using properties manager window in the sketcher module.

How to enter sketcher- Select a plane or a planar surface and select sketch
button

Exiting sketcher module- select the same button which is now changed to

exit sketch or select

Inferred Constraints

Vertical indicates a line is vertical

Horizontal indicates a line is horizontal

Dashed line indicates the alignment is to the center point or

endpoint of an entity

Parallel indicates a line is parallel to other entities

Perpendicular indicates a line is perpendicular to other entities

Coincident indicates the endpoint will be coincident with

another entity

Concentric indicates the cursor is at the center of an entity

Tangent indicates the cursor is at tangency points to

curves
