TEKNOLUNAS 2024 is an interdisciplinary conference dedicated to advancing Philippine
healthcare through innovations and collaborations. The event focuses on transforming
health research into biomedical devices and bridging the gap for equitable and accessible
healthcare delivery systems across the Philippines. The conference will bring together
experts, academics, industry professionals, and policymakers to discuss the latest

 Venue: Recoletos Center for Arts and Culture, 4th Floor, St. Augustine Building,
University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Main Campus, Magallanes St., Cebu

Event Structure
The event is structured over three days, featuring keynote addresses, plenary sessions, panel
discussions, exhibits, and a pitching competition. The sessions are designed to foster in-
depth discussions and knowledge sharing among experts in the fields of biomedical
engineering, healthcare innovation, and health policy.

Keynote Sessions
The keynote sessions are integral to setting the tone for each day of the conference. Each
keynote speaker is expected to deliver a 30-minute presentation, followed by a brief Q&A
session. The keynote addresses are designed to provide thought leadership on critical issues
related to the conference theme.

Plenary Sessions and Panel Discussions
The plenary sessions and panel discussions will cover various sub-themes, including
regional health ecosystems, biomedical engineering research, innovations in orthopedics
and prosthetics, IP commercialization, and the current status of regional health systems.
Panelists are encouraged to provide insights and engage in discussions that can stimulate
innovative ideas and collaborations among the participants.

Paper Conference
The paper conference will feature parallel sessions where researchers will present their
academic papers related to the event's themes. This is an excellent opportunity for
academics, professionals, and students to showcase their research, receive feedback from
peers, and contribute to the collective knowledge in the fields of biomedical engineering and
healthcare innovation.

 Technical Sessions: Papers will be presented in thematic technical sessions, with

each presenter allocated time for their presentation and a brief Q&A.
 Themes: The sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including advancements in
biomedical devices, health technologies, and healthcare systems.
 Recognition: Awards will be given for the best paper, best presenter, and best overall
contribution to the conference theme.

Pitching Competition
The pitching competition will showcase innovative projects and ideas related to biomedical
engineering, healthcare technologies, and health informatics. Participants will present their
pitches to a panel of judges, who will evaluate the proposals based on criteria such as
innovation, feasibility, and potential impact on healthcare. This competition provides a
platform for innovators and researchers to gain exposure and potentially secure support for
the further development of their projects.

 Format: Participants will have a set time to present their pitches, followed by a Q&A
session with the judges.
 Categories: The competition will feature multiple categories, including health
informatics, biomedical devices, and healthcare apps.
 Awards: Prizes will be awarded for the best pitch, best exhibit, and best overall
innovation.

Networking Session
Networking is a key component of TEKNOLUNAS 2024, providing multiple occasions for
participants to connect, exchange ideas, and explore collaborations throughout the event. A
dedicated networking session will be held in the afternoon of Day 3, following the closing
remarks.

o Purpose: This session is designed to facilitate meaningful interactions among
participants, including speakers, panelists, researchers, and industry
professionals. It serves as a platform to reflect on the conference discussions,
establish new connections, and discuss potential collaborations.
 Additional Networking Opportunities:
o Throughout the Event: Informal networking will also occur during breaks,
lunches, and social events. Participants are encouraged to engage actively in
these sessions to maximize their experience.

experience, fostering an environment where participants can build valuable relationships

Speaker Guidelines
Pre-Event Preparations and Requests: Before the event we would like to request your
most updated CV/bionote and portrait photo that will be used to introduce you during
the event, and your presentations in advance for smooth flow in the program and
minimize possible technical glitches.

1. Keynote Speakers

Presentation Time:

 Duration: 30 minutes for the presentation, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session.

 Time Keeper: An organizer will be in front of the stage that will show cue cards to
guide the speakers of how much time is left for their keynote presentations.

Content Focus:

 Alignment with Theme: Your keynote presentation should provide a broad and
impactful perspective on the topic assigned and the conference theme. Focus on
thought leadership, innovative strategies, and future directions that can shape the
landscape of healthcare and biomedical engineering in the Philippines.
 Audience Engagement: Consider incorporating real-world examples, case studies,
and visionary insights that will engage the audience and provoke thought.

Technical Requirements:

 For your PowerPoint presentation or any other visual aids, please send your
presentation in advance to make sure technical glitches will be avoided.
 We also recommend bringing a backup of your presentation on a USB drive.
 If your presentation includes specialized content (e.g., videos, live demonstrations),
inform the organizers in advance to ensure all technical aspects are covered.

Arrival and Registration:

 We have arranged a car that would take them from your hotel/accommodation to the
event place.

 An usher will be in place to guide you accordingly upon arrival at the venue

Networking Opportunities:

 As a keynote speaker, you will have multiple opportunities to interact with other
speakers, panelists, and participants throughout the event. We encourage you to
engage with attendees during breaks, networking sessions, and social events.

3. Panel Discussants and Moderators

Panel Discussion Structure:

 Duration: Each panel discussion will last approximately 1 hour. Panel Discussion will
start giving each panelists 15 minutes each to either talk, share their insights, or give
a presentation. It will be followed by a moderated discussion and audience Q&A. The
Plenary speakers will also join the moderated discussion and Q&A.
 Content Delivery: You may choose to deliver your insights through a prepared talk,
share your insights, or a PowerPoint presentation. Please ensure that your content is
concise and directly relevant to the session's theme.

Content Focus:

 Interactive Dialogue: Your role is to provide in-depth insights and contribute to a

dynamic discussion with fellow panelists. Focus on key issues highlighted by the
moderator, offering your expertise and responding to questions or comments from
the audience.
 Collaboration Emphasis: Highlight potential collaborations, challenges, and
opportunities in your area of expertise, especially those that can advance healthcare
innovations and impact the Philippine healthcare system.
