1/ Introduction
Overview
Welcome to neoColorBox’s User Manual. neoColorBox is a colorway creation program, which offers a friendly
windows-working system, so that various designs and colorways can be managed at the same time.
With neoColorBox you can share colorways, color libraries and layouts, and it allows to use different profiles to
your files. The printing methods of neoColorBox, as it includes the agile “QuickPrint”, is a flexible modality to
export your colorways with customized variations of layouts. This will speed up your printing tasks, and
consequently the company’s workflow.
This program has been designed to work as Stand Alone, or to work in coordination with neoCatalog, another
great Inèdit program to catalog, make colorways and see designs applied to virtual models. Both programs are
connected via web through a common server. Further, neoColorBox can work without an internet connection
when needed.
neoColorBox has been designed to work together with neoCatalog, or as Stand Alone. neoCatalog is in order
to keep designs, colorways, color profiles, etc. updated. Both programs are connected via web through a
common server. You can work offline with neoColorBox. The moment you have internet connection both
programs will be automatically synchronized. User authentication with multiple-level privileges is supported.
For more information about neoCatalog, please refer to neoCatalog’s User Manual available for download from
Inèdit’s website: http://www.inedit.com/en/product/neocatalog_1_2_3
New features
This version of neoColorBox provides the following new features :
• Inedit Color Picker
Optional color picker with options to pick colors in different color modes or measure by
spectrophotometer.
2/ Starting neoColorBox
Open neoColorBox
If you work with neoCatalog connection, remember that an Administrator of neoCatalog must grant you User
name and Password in order to register and open the application.
Double-click on the neoColorBox.app file to open the application from the location you have stored it.
When you start the program, the Login window pops out. Type your User name and password, and click on
Login.
Working with neoColorBox without neoCatalog is in Standalone mode and offers different ways of importing
and saving your colorways. Coloring colorways and using QuickPrint works the same as if it was connected to
neoCatalog. Start the application in the usual way, with the difference that the login is not required anymore.

Inspector
From the menu bar, select Window and then Show Inspector:
The colorways Inspector opens a single window with various tabs with which you will be able to modify
certain values of the colorway, or simply view information of it. Each tab allows to make limited changes that
will affect the colorway selected, as for Profile, Rendering Intents, Proofing, Rapport, etc.
Colorway
Colorway is showing general information about the
colorway’s name, location, protection, color space and
profile. With published colorways most functions are
disabled.
Proofing
Proofing is giving the option to proof the colorway in
the .icc device profile you want, using the standard
Rendering Intents with option to simulate Paper Color
or/and Black Ink. These options are available for
published and temporary colorways.
Rapport
Rapport is only showing general information about
the design’s size, repeat size or infinite repeats, offset
of the design, the visible resolution in dpi and the
rapport direction. This information is non editable, as
it’s embedded in the design file in neoCatalog. If you
want to change it, please contact your Administrator.
Image Data
Image Data is only showing general information
transferred from neoCatalog. This is about user,
creation data and design’s general information. This
information is non editable, as it’s in neoCatalog’s
data base. If you want to change it, please contact
your Administrator.
Curves
Curves is giving the option to apply or load a curve
into a colorway. With published colorways, this
functions is disabled. We recommend NOT to
manipulate the curves, as this option is specific for
ceramic simulation and it could change the color
drastically.
Advanced
Advanced is showing general information transferred
from neoCatalog about availability of the local file
quality. The Creation Date is the download date, when
the design was opened and downloaded in
neoColorBox. The refresh button will update your
local image file. Another option is to re-name the
temporary colorway, until it is published.
Engraving
Engraving is showing information of covered area of
each channel or separation of the design, so as the
channel name and position.
3/ Colorways Navigation
Colorway Search
Colorways Browser
The first time you open the Colorways Browser you will see that is empty. As you search designs and their
embedded colorways in neoCatalog and you work with them, they will get included.
You can click on to force the search of your design with Search Now:
neoCatalog Browser
neoColorBox supports opening neoCatalog
Browser from the application and another option
to search for colorways. The Welcome window
has the option to open the Browser. Choose
Open neoCatalog:
Once the browser is open, select a design or colorway click on it. Clicking on the nB icon below, it will open
the colorway in neoColorBox.
Tip: For detailed information about the use of neoCatalog and editing options, please refer to
neoCatalog’s User Manual.
Colorway View
When a colorway opens in neoColorBox, be it published, duplicated or a random new one, the colorway
window appears in the middle of your screen. neoColorBox provides some colorway viewing options, and
some options for the colorway window.
Colorway window
The Colorways Windows can be minimized or be shown in different ways, and these options open from the
context menu that unfolds from the Window button:
The Minimize option takes the colorway icon to the “Dock”, and this action can also be done with the
classical “minus” button on the top left corner of the window.
With the Zoom option you will fit the whole window in your screen, leaving only visible the “Dock”. You can
also do this with the “plus” button.
Finally, the Mosaic option will allow you to see in full and fit on the screen all your opened colorways. Here is
the aspect of four colorways randomly opened:
Viewing Modes
Colorways Views can be shown in Actual Pixel, Real Size ,
Full, Single and Infinite Repeat, or using the zoom tool/
value. These options open from the context menu that
unfolds from the View button.
(4) The option Synchronize Selection takes the same selected area made with the selection tool for
all the opened colorways. This is disabled when selecting the move tool :
Colorway previews
Clicking on the tool on the tool bar, you will open
colorways side view. Then you can switch colorways at
one click. All the embedded and neoCatalog colorways
of a design are shown on the left of the colorway
window.
Color channels
Each color channel is represented by a color patch with its color reference, when working with a color library
from neoCatalog:
Original color is the first embedded color in the design separation, e.g. Adobe Photoshop Spot colors.
Present color is the current color of the coloration created with neoColorBox.
Various Superposition Methods used by Inèdit are available. Disabled is used
to deactivate the channel, and the other four coloring methods, to fill the
channel with color. All shown and selectable in the following dialog.
Color Reference is coming from your color library or Hex Colors # values, when using color picker.
Channel deactivation - Each channel can be hidden with ‘eye’ icon, meaning that the separation of that
channel won’t be visible in the design, and the patch is shown in grey.
4/ Colorways Management
Component of Colorways
neoColorBox is designed to work with temporary local colorways -as offline-, and published colorways in
established connection with neoCatalog. Only colorways will be loaded and managed, so there is no need to
download the full original design.
Temporary colorways - local saved colorways are allowed to be modified in color or they can be
deleted.
Published colorways - embedded (with design imported colorways in neoCatalog) and published
colorways in neoCatalog and locked in color. Only viewing, duplicating and exporting is possible.

and share it with other users; or simply synchronize your existing Colorways with your Color Library.
New window opens, with all other opened Color Libraries besides. In the upper bar are all your libraries, you
can choose them by clicking on their button or selecting them from the unfolded list. With the scroll button

and drop them to the colorway channel. It will adopt the color
and the color name from the color library.
You can change the color of any channel with any mode you like,
and go back to the original color with the Edit | Undo Color
option, or using shortcuts cmd+Z:

colorway with Paste Colors.
