PAPER:07 "Resource-constrained Scheduling of a Real Project from


the Construction Industry: A Comparison of Software Packages for

packages handle scheduling and resource allocation, aiming to minimize
project duration while adhering to precedence constraints. Due to the
complexity of optimal resource allocation, heuristic methods are used. The

PAPER:08 Project management and scheduling 2022

Project Management and Scheduling (PMS) held virtually in April 2022. The
conference gathered over 100 participants from 20 countries and focused on
two main streams: project management and machine scheduling. Topics
included resource-constrained project scheduling, risk management,
sustainability, multi-project scheduling, and new heuristic solutions. The
papers in this special issue contribute to these areas, with a particular
emphasis on robust scheduling under uncertainty, reflecting the increasingly
complex and uncertain business environment. Additionally, several empirical

PAPER:09 Effect of energy management and waste management on


schedule performance: role of technological complexity and project
size

Urbanization and population growth have increased construction waste and


energy consumption, necessitating sustainable waste (SWM) and energy
(SEM) management to reduce environmental impact. In Nigeria, energy
shortages and waste management issues disrupt construction schedules and
increase costs. However, these sustainable practices can negatively affect
schedule performance (SP), measured as the difference between planned
and actual completion times.

This study examines how SWM and SEM influence SP through technological
complexity (TC) and how project size impacts this relationship. The findings
aim to provide insights for improving SP in construction projects, while
comparing results with prior studies and suggesting future research
directions.

PAPER:10 A Multi-objective Dynamic Optimization Approach to


Project Schedule

Construction projects face uncertainties that hinder timely completion.


Traditional scheduling methods often fail to manage these uncertainties.
Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) uses buffers (feeding, project, and
resource) but often neglects feeding buffers.

This study proposes a robust buffer allocation model using the Root Square
Error Method (RSEM) to address these gaps. It introduces new metrics for
non-critical chains and employs a risk quantification approach to assess
uncertainties. The paper presents a multi-objective optimization method for
better project schedule management.

PAPER11: Identifying and Analysing the Root Causes of Quality


Non-Conformance in Construction Project Baseline Schedules

Introduction:

Project scheduling is vital for construction success, with PDM widely used.
However, schedules often face issues like poor activity breakdowns, leading
to unreliability. A quality schedule must be comprehensive, well-constructed,
credible, and updated regularly.

This study aims to:

1. Develop a schedule quality assessment mechanism.

2. Analyze non-conformance patterns across multiple projects.

3. Identify and assess root causes of non-conformance.


The research, based on 30 building construction projects in India, uses expert
interviews and the Delphi method to identify and validate root causes.
