Lab 11: Open-Ended Lab

Introduction
This lab focuses on applying foundational networking concepts, such as VLANs, DHCP,
wireless access, and VoIP, in practical scenarios using Cisco Packet Tracer. By
simulating real-world setups, students gain hands-on experience in designing,
configuring, and troubleshooting networks.

Objectives
The objective is to design and implement scalable and efficient network solutions for
specific scenarios.

Tools/Software Requirement
CISCO Packet Tracer

Lab Task 1:

Scenario:
A company has three branches: Headquarters (HQ), Branch A, and Branch B. The
branches need to be connected with proper IP addressing and routing protocols to ensure
communication between them.

Requirements:
1. Use at least three routers, one for each branch.
2. Implement subnetting for efficient IP usage.
3. Implement and verify connectivity by testing ping and file server access.

Task 2:

Scenario:
A university campus has three departments: Administration, Academics, and Library.
The network should be designed to provide wired and wireless access for users and
include VoIP communication for staff across all departments.

Requirements:
1. Use switches to create separate VLANs for each department.
2. Configure a router to allow inter-VLAN communication.
3. Set up a DHCP server to assign IP addresses dynamically to devices in each
VLAN.
4. Deploy a wireless access point (WAP) in the Library VLAN to provide Wi-Fi
access to users.
5. Set up a VoIP server in the Administration VLAN, with at least one VoIP phone
in each VLAN.

6. Verify connectivity using pings and test VoIP communication between
departments.

Task 3:
Scenario:
A small business with two offices, Sales and Support, needs a network that ensures
connectivity, provides redundancy, and dynamically assigns IP addresses to devices.

Requirements:
1. Create two separate networks for Sales and Support using switches and VLANs.
2. Configure a router to enable communication between the two networks.
3. Implement DHCP for dynamic IP assignment in both networks.
4. Test connectivity between devices in Sales and Support networks and simulate
router failover.
