GRAMMAR LESSON: ADJECTIVES
1. How adjectives are used
We can use adjectives:
before nouns:
There are so many historical buildings.
A well-known desinger made the dress for her.
after the following verbs: be, become, get, seen, appear, look, smell, taste, feel
She is very intelligent.
They always seem pleased to see you.
after find/make/keep + object:
Studying abroad makes it easier for me to settle down here.
Please keep my drink cold.
2. The order of adjectives
Khi sử dụng các tính từ cùng nhau, đặt những từ thể hiện ý kiến, quan điểm trước những từ mô tả
đặc điểm, thể loại của thứ đang nói đến:
a beautiful Turkish carpet (beautiful: quan điểm + Turkish: thể loại)
Khi sử dụng nhiều hơn một tính từ để mô tả đặc điểm hoặc kiểu loại, chúng thường tuân theo thứ
tự sau:

Tip: D: determiner (mạo từ, từ chỉ định vị, số đếm, số thứ tự, từ sở hữu, lượng từ)

Khi có hai hoặc nhiều tính từ sau động từ hoặc danh từ, chúng ta sử dụng "and" giữa hai tính từ
cuối cùng:
The people are very welcoming and friendly towards visitors.
Sử dụng “and” giữa hai tính từ chỉ màu sắc: vivid blue and green feathers

Một số tính từ mô tả cảm giác được hình thành từ động từ và có hai dạng có thể có, thường là -ed
hoặc -ing, ví dụ: tired/ tiring, excited/exciting,…
Chúng ta sử dụng các từ dạng -ed để miêu tả cảm giác, cảm xúc của một người nào đó (ai đó cảm
thấy…):
I was fascinated to see the extraordinary range of patterns.
I was amazed at the variety of wonderful animals.
Chúng ta sử dụng các từ dạng -ing để miêu tả người hoặc vật có đặc điểm, tính cách như thế nào:
It is an absolutely amazing city to visit.
India is a fascinating country.
