Fall 2024

Course Code: EMAI651 Course Name: Computer Vision

________________________________________________________________

Project Description

Assigned Date: 27/11/2024

Delivery Date: December 20 @ 11:00PM

Presentation Date: December 21 @ TBD

WARNING:

• This project must ONLY be submitted on the Blackboard!

• This project is worth 20% of the overall module marks (100%).

• No project will be accepted after 11:59 pm for any reason.

• This is a GROUP project.

Course Learning Outcome

• CLO 2.3: Develop practical skills necessary to build highly-accurate, industrial computer
vision applications
• CLO 3.1: Collaborate effectively within a team to design, implement, and present a
computer vision project.
• CLO 3.2: Apply ethical practices for AI and computer vision.
Delivery
• Submit your assignment on the Blackboard ONLY.
• Please make sure to add your names / IDs/course name / Assignment number as
comments at the beginning of the cover page of your Project report.

Description:
Please read the instructions carefully and ensure all steps are followed in your project.

Part I: Computer Vision System

[T1] Describe how you improved or extended method(s) developed in Assignment 2.

• [T1.1] Implement the proposed/improved/extended method [10 Marks]
• [T1.2] Test, Evaluate and discuss the results after improvements [10 Marks]
• [T1.3] Test, Evaluate and discuss the results on Unseen Dataset(s). [10 Marks]

Please include a statement outlining any updates made to Assignment 2 in response

to your instructor's comments.
[T2] Create Graphical User Interface for your application using OpenCV (Highgui
module). You can use any other modules to enhance your interface. [20 Marks]
[T3] Develop a semi-automatic annotation tool that can be used to label data effectively.
This tool will facilitate the expansion of dataset used in [T1.2], leading to improved system
performance. [20 Marks].
1. Ensure the semi-automatic annotation tool is user-friendly to encourage widespread
use.
2. Design the semi-automatic annotation tool to minimize human error in the
annotation process by using an object detector module.
Your project must involve some kind of demo that you can show in final presentation,
through a live demo of the system in action.
[T4] Apply ethical practices in the development and deployment of your computer vision
system to ensure transparency and privacy protection:
• [System code] Privacy Protection: Implementing measures to protect the privacy
of individuals whose data may be captured or analyzed by the system. [5 Marks]
• [Technical Report- Part II] Transparency: Making the system’s processes
understandable to users, including clear explanations of how data is used and how
decisions are made. [5 Marks]

Part II: Technical Report [10 Marks]

Write a technical report for your computer vision system that typically covers a range of topics,
detailing the system’s design, functionality, and performance. Outline and key elements to
include in your report:
Title Page
• Title of the report
