Modal verbs are auxiliary verbs that express necessity, ability, permission, possibility, or other
conditions. They modify the main verb to add meaning and do not change their form based on the
subject.
1. Ability
Example: She could play the piano when she was young.
2. Possibility
May and Might express present or future possibilities, with might being less certain.
3. Permission
Can, May
Example: Can you help me? / Could you open the window?
Will and Would are often used for polite requests or offers.
Example: Will you join us? / Would you like some tea?
