One path 🡪 one current

If the switch in the current is opened, the lamps and the buzzer will
stop operating because the current in the whole circuit

stops flowing when the circuit is opened.

SLIDESMANIA.COM
The paths were the current can flow are called branches.

In this parallel circuit:

- The current flows to the branch in the

circuit.

- At the branch, the current is divided equally

between them.

Advantages of parallel circuits
● If a component in one branch stops
working, the other branches are not
affected.

Advantages of parallel circuits
● Components in the same circuit can be
switched on and off independently.

● When S1 is closed, the lamp L1 will light.

● This will not affect L2 because they are

on different branches.

● When S2 is closed, the lamp L2 will light.

● This will not affect L1 because they are

● For any lamp to light in this circuit,
switch 4 must be closed.

● Then S1, S2, S3 can be used to

control each lamp separately.

Measuring current
Electrical current is measured in amps
using an ammeter
SLIDESMANIA.COM
Ammeter should be connected in series in the circuit

Calculate the current ● I total = I1 + I2 + I3

I x = I1 + I2

= 1+1
= 2A
