Mischa Dohler is now leading the Intelligent Energy [IQe] Group, CTTC, Barcelona, Spain,
with focus on smart grids and green radios. He is working on machine-to-machine, wireless
sensor, femto, cooperative, cognitive, and docitive networks. In the framework of the Mobile
VCE, he has pioneered research on distributed cooperative space-time encoded communication
systems in 1999. He has published over 150 technical journal and conference papers at a citation
h-index of 26 and citation g-index of 55, holds 12 patents, authored, co-edited, and contributed
to 19 books, has given 25 international short-courses, and participated in various standardization
activities. He has been TPC member and co-chair of various conferences, such as a Technical
Chair of IEEE PIMRC, Cannes, France, in 2008. He is an Editor-in-Chief of ETT and is/has
been holding various editorial positions for numerous IEEE and non-IEEE journals. He is a
Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE ComSoc. From June 2005 to February 2008, he has been a
Senior Research Expert with the Research and Development Division, France Telecom, France.
From September 2003 to June 2005, he has been a Lecturer with King’s College London,
London, U.K. He has been London Technology Network Business Fellow receiving Anglo-Saxon business training, as well
as a Student Representative of the IEEE UKRI Section and member of the Student Activity Committee of IEEE Region 8
(Europe, Africa, Middle-East, and Russia). He received the Ph.D. degree in telecommunications from King’s College London
in 2003, the Diploma in electrical engineering from Dresden University of Technology, Dresden, Germany, in 2000, and the
M.Sc. degree in telecommunications from King’s College London in 1999. He studied physics in Moscow. He has won various
competitions in mathematics and physics, and participated in the 3rd round of the International Physics Olympics for Germany.
Xufei Mao (M’12) is an Associate Researcher with the IoT Center, Tsinghua National Lab for
Information and Science Technology. He received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the
Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL, USA in 2010. His research interests span wireless
ad hoc networks and pervasive computing. He participated in a number of large-scale projects in
wireless sensor network area, e.g., OASIS (Volcano-monitoring for Mount St. Helens, WA USA,
2008) and GreenOrbs (Canopy Measurement for Mount Tianmu, Zhejiang, China, 2009–2011).
He is leading the CitySee project (a CO2 emission monitoring project in urban area, Jiangshu,
China, 2011), which consists of 1200 wireless sensor nodes. He has authored/co-authored over
70 papers in different international journals, conferences, and book chapters. He is a Guest
Editor of the IEEE T SINGHUA S CIENCE AND T ECHNOLOGY J OURNAL.
Honggang Wang was with Bell Labs Lucent Technologies China from 2001 to 2004 as
a Technical Staff Member. He received the Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, NE, USA, in 2009. He is an Assistant Professor with
the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Dartmouth, MA, USA, and is a Faculty Member
of Advanced Telecommunications Engineering Laboratory, University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
His current research interests include wireless healthcare, body area networks, multimedia
communications, cognitive radio networks, sensor networks, cyber-physical system, and Internet
of Things. He has published more than 100 papers in his research areas, including more than 20
publications in prestigious IEEE journals. He also published papers in prestigious conferences,
such as INFOCOM, ICDCS, ICC, Globecom, and ICME. He is the winner of the Best Paper
Award of the 2008 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference. He serves as
a Guest Editor of the IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, IEEE S ENSORS
J OURNAL, an Associate Editor of Wiley’s Security and Communication Networks Journal and
