Scribd allows users to upload and share documents, a feature that is both a
strength and a weakness. While this capability can facilitate sharing public
domain works or original content, it has also been misused to distribute
copyrighted material without permission. Authors and publishers frequently
find their works uploaded illegally, often without their knowledge or consent.
This lack of stringent oversight over user-generated content raises serious
ethical and legal questions. By not adequately policing uploads, Scribd risks
fostering an environment where intellectual property rights are disregarded.
Such practices not only harm creators but also tarnish Scribd’s reputation as
a legitimate and ethical platform for literary content.
