INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study

The most widely used positional measure is the mean. The method of

determining the average of a set of data that have been divided into several groups is

known as the mean of grouped data. It is easy to calculate the mean of grouped data

because it only requires a frequency table to set across the data's frequencies.
Percentiles help us understand where a specific value stands relative to other

values in a dataset. Whether it’s test scores, income, or other measurements,

percentiles provide valuable insights. Represents the value below which a certain

percentage of data falls. It helps us understand where a specific score or measurement

stands relative to other values especially useful when raw test scores lack meaningful

units help understand where a specific score or measurement stands relative to other

values or interpret data . In our daily life, percentiles provide context and allow us to

compare individual values effectively. Whether it’s health, education, finance, or

sports, percentiles help us make informed decisions in various aspects of ou life.

Percentiles are a statistical tool used to understand the distribution of data within

a specific range. They demonstrate how the data values are spread out from the

smallest to the largest value. When considering a particular percentile (pth

percentile), it indicates that approximately p% of the data falls below that value,

while approximately 100-p% of the data is found above the same percentile.
Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine the the periodical examination scores of grade 9 -

euler students in science subject (third grading) using measure of position for

grouped data (Mean, Percentile, and Percentile rank)

1. What is the minimum score or grade required to pass?

2. What are the students' scores and their percentile ranks?

3. How did the students do on their periodic exam?

4. Did all the students pass the periodic exam?

Significance of the Study

The discovery would enable learners to enhance their mathematical proficiency,

potentially resulting in better academic outcomes. This study will be advantageous to

the following individuals:

For students, This study will be beneficial for students as it will teach them the

importance of note-taking and attentiveness during class.

For teachers, This study will help teachers identify which students need more

attention and support, leading to better academic outcomes for those students.

For parents: This study will give parents important information about how their

child is doing in school, especially if their child is struggling with their academic

performance.
METHODOLOGY

Flowchart of General Procedure

Method of Research Selection of Samples

Statistical Analysis Collection of Data

Method of Research
This study will be carried out at San Isidro National High School using the
survey research method.

Selection of Samples

There were thirty- five (35) Grade 9 randomly chosen respondents from the

given year level at San Isidro National Highschool to fill up the form.

Collection of Data

A survey form with three (3) columns that included the student's names,

science scores, and signatures will be use to gather the data. The responders' adviser

was mentioned in the upper part.

Statistical Analysis

The data gathered were analyzed using the measure of position for grouped data

(Mean, Percentile, and Percentile rank).

SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION

This study was conducted to evaluate the periodical examination scores of

grade 9 - euler students in science subject (third grading) using measure of position

for grouped data (Mean, Percentile, and Percentile rank). It was conducted at San

Isidro National High School, San Isidro, Isabela on May 7, 2024

Our findings lead us to the conclusion that 25.14% of students received a score

on their periodical test in science less than or equal to 23–26, and 54.37% of students

received a science grade less than or equal to 27–30.
