D. DEFAULTING
1. On the day of the event, all registered participating teams shall be at the
venue.
2. A fifteen (15) minutes grace period will be enforced after which no-show
teams will be automatically disqualified.

E. MANNER OF ANSWERING
1. For the Theoretical Quiz Show round, each team will be given an answer sheet
and solution papers for each member of the team. The final answers should be
written on the Official Answer Sheet and should be enclosed by a circle or a
rectangle.
a. If there are two answers separated by OR, the first answer shall be
considered the final answer.
b. Answers that are not enclosed by a circle or a rectangle will not be
considered.
c. In case the contestants need to change their answers, they shall cross out the
previous answers and rewrite the final answers, clearly enclosed by a circle or
a rectangle.

2. For the Practical round, a circuit problem will be flashed on the screen and each
team will be given a blank paper for each category where they shall input their
solutions and answers properly.
a. The team may approach the watchers assigned to them as many times as
they want to check their solutions.
b. In the troubleshooting category, the team may proceed to repairing the actual
circuit as soon as they have submitted their computations.
c. The watchers will be the first one to verify if the team has met all the given
parameters/ specifications.
d. Judges will be called after the watcher has verified that the team has finalized
their output.
e. The team is not allowed to modify their final output once the judges have
already checked their circuit.
f. Each team is allowed to bring one (1) laptop ONLY during this round where
they can utilize a simulation software to test their design virtually before
physically building the circuit.
g. The only simulation software that the participants are allowed to utilize during
this round are the following:
● LTspice
● Proteus
● Multisim
h. All necessary electronic components and equipment will be provided during
the practical round.
i. The provided electronic components and equipment are manually tested by a
Licensed Electronics Engineer (ECE) or Licensed Electronics Technician
(ECT).

3. The quizmaster will read each question twice. For the Objective round, solution
papers will NOT be provided. Blank sheets of paper will only be given in the Problem
Solving and Practical round. The contestants can start solving and writing their
answers as soon as they wish. The timer will only start after the quizmaster gives the
GO signal.

4. At the end of the time limit, one (1) member of the Team stands holding their
answer sheet/ test paper with a raised arm.
a. For the Quiz Show round, the Quiz master will announce the correct answer
and the watchers will then get the answer sheets and submit them to the Quiz
master, who shall read out the answer(s) of each team while projecting on the
screen.
b. For the troubleshooting category in the practical round, the watchers will
collect the test papers and submit them to the judges who shall score them,
affix their signatures, and submit them to the committee in charge of tallying
scores.
c. Items A and B above may be modified depending upon the discretion of the
Panel of Judges.

5. Participants are prohibited from materials such as gadgets (e.g., smartphones and
smart watches), written materials (e.g., notes, modules, and prepared answers), or
other materials that may be used as an unfair advantage except a single laptop per
team during the practical round.

6. Wrong spelling in the written answers will constitute a wrong answer.

7. In case of mathematical answers, a wrong unit will make the answer wrong.
a. Mathematical questions with numerical answers will specify the required
degree of accuracy or number of decimal places (up to 2 decimal places), and
failure to comply with the same will automatically render the answers
unacceptable.
b. Correct answers must be given complete with units and to the required
accuracy. However, if the unit is already given in the way the question is
asked, it need not be provided in the answer.
c. Further questions on accuracy of numerical answers will be referred to the
Panel of Judges.
8. No deductions will be made for wrong answers or non-answering of questions.

9. A maximum of three (3) non-programmable scientific calculators for each team

shall be allowed in the competition. The use of online and/or app-based calculators
shall not be allowed. Only calculator models that are allowed in the most recent ECE
board exam shall be allowed during the event.

10. There will be an assigned facilitator for each team that will act as a watcher. They
will be the one to:
a. Advise the participants before the competition officially starts to keep away
any gadgets (e.g., smartphones and smart watches), written materials (e.g.,
notes, modules, and prepared answers), or other materials that may be used
as an unfair advantage.
b. Check if their calculator is allowable. Only calculator models that are allowed
in the most recent ECE board exam shall be allowed during the competition.
c. Ensure that no alterations are made on the Official Answer Sheets at the end
of the designated time limit.
d. Assist the team with their queries during the competition.
e. Monitor them for their compliance with the rules.

11. The teams/individuals are allowed to contest any question should there be any
correction to the problem or the answer. The rules for contesting are as follows:
a. Teams/individuals can only contest during the 10-second contesting period of
the question. Contesting after the 10-second contesting period shall no longer
be entertained.
b. Only the team/individual should notify their assigned facilitator during the
10-second contesting period.
c. The facilitator shall relay the concern to the panel of judges for deliberation.
d. The judges may allow or reject the answer that is being contested.
e. The decision of the panel of judges is final and irrevocable.

12. Cheating in any form will not be tolerated. This includes copying from other
individuals/teams, letting/tolerating other individuals/teams cheat, collaborating with
another individual/team, using or carrying any resource materials in the game, etc.
13. In case of a tie among any of the participants vying for any of the places, a Tie
Breaker Round shall occur to break the tie. A set of three (3) questions will be given,
one from each category of questions in quiz show round, with the same scoring
system. If the tie is not broken after the Tie Breaker Round, “do or die” questions
shall be given.

14. For the do-or-die questions, the first participant to provide the correct answer
shall win the Tie Breaker Round.

F. CLARIFICATIONS
1. Only the official participating members of each team on stage may raise
questions or clarifications on the answers already given.
2. Clarification regarding the questions and answers should be directed to the
panel of judges only after the allotted time for the given questions.
3. All participants must adhere to a high standard of conduct throughout the
competition. Any behavior that is disrespectful, offensive, or disruptive to the
