Agile Activity – Sprint Planning

Activity C: Sprint Planning

Now since you have refined the epics and identified all tasks, it is time to assign the individual tasks to
their respective sprints. Since this is a learning exercise, let us assume each sprint will be one week long.
Add all identified project tasks to the following template and assign them to their respective sprints.
Let’s assume that we are time-boxing the project to be completed within the next eight weeks and let’s
not assign tasks beyond Sprint eight.

Sprint Plan

Note: You might want to use the provided Excel spreadsheet to plan your sprints and assign project
tasks to their respective sprints. In case you are using the Excel template, make sure you have enabled
the macros on the spreadsheet. Go to the “Sprint Planning” tab and click the “Load Epics and Tasks from
Epics/Tasks Tab” button. This will load all the Epics and Tasks data defined in the previous tabs and you
will not have to copy and paste the data from the previous tabs (unless you really feel like doing that).

Since this is a learning exercise, let us assume each sprint will be one week long. Add all identified
project tasks to the following template and assign them to their respective sprints. Let us assume that
we are time-boxing the project to be completed within the next eight weeks and let us not assign tasks
beyond Sprint eight.

You can use any measurement for story points; you may wish to use expected labor hours on a task as a
measurement of story points.
