Assignment Tasks

Part 1: Getting Started with Excel


Spreadsheet Creation:

Task: Create a new Excel workbook. Name it StudentRecords.xlsx.


Instructions: In the first worksheet, create a table with the following columns:
Student ID, Name, Course, Grade, Date of Birth, and Score.
Insertion of Rows and Columns:

Task: Insert an additional column named "Attendance" next to Grade.


Instructions: Add rows for five sample students and fill in basic data.
Drag & Fill:

Task: Use the Drag & Fill feature to enter a sequence for Student ID (e.g., 101, 102, 103...).
Instructions: Demonstrate how to use Drag & Fill to complete sequences.
Use of Aggregate Functions:

Task: Calculate the following using aggregate functions:


Average Score
Highest Score
Lowest Score
Instructions: Use AVERAGE, MAX, and MIN functions at the end of the column to calculate
these metrics for the Score column.
Part 2: Working with Data – Importing, Sorting, and Filtering
Importing Data:

Task: Import a dataset of your choice (e.g., a list of products or sales records).
Instructions: Ensure the data is imported as a new worksheet in the same workbook.
Data Entry & Manipulation:

Task: Manually add five new records to the imported dataset.


Instructions: Make sure to enter values relevant to the existing data format, ensuring no blanks
in required fields.
Sorting & Filtering:

Task: Perform the following operations:


Sort the data based on one column (e.g., Product Price in descending order).
Apply a filter to show only the entries where Score is above 80.
Instructions: Explain the sorting criteria used and take screenshots of both operations.
Part 3: Advanced Data Tools – Data Validation, Pivot Tables, and Pivot Charts
Data Validation:

Task: Set up data validation for the Grade column:


Options: Restrict entries to the following grades: A, B, C, D, F.
Instructions: Provide a dropdown list using data validation and test it by attempting to enter
invalid data.
Pivot Tables:

Task: Create a pivot table to summarize Scores by Grade.


Instructions: Place the Grades as rows and Average Score as values in the pivot table.
Summarize the data meaningfully and display it in a separate worksheet.
Pivot Charts:

Task: Create a pivot chart based on the pivot table.


Instructions: Use a column chart to visualize the average scores by grade.
