UNIT – III DETAILED ESTIMATE (5th Semester)

Method of Measurement of Brickwork [IS: 1200 (Part III)]

Unit of Brickwork
a) For Traditional Brick
1. If the thickness of the brickwork is 250 mm or more than 250 mm, then Unit of Brickwork is Cu.m (m 3)
2. If the thickness of the brickwork is less than 250 mm (means thickness is 125 mm or 75 mm), then Unit
of Brickwork is Sq.m (m2)

b) For Modular Brick

3. If the thickness of the brickwork is 200 mm or more than 200 mm, then Unit of Brickwork is Cu.m (m3)
4. If the thickness of the brickwork is less than 200 mm (means thickness is 100 mm), then Unit of
Brickwork is Sq.m (m2)

No Deductions shall be made for the Brickwork

Case – I
Ends of dissimilar materials (means R.C.C Beams, Joists, Lintels, Post, Columns, Girders, Rafters, Purlins,
Trusses, etc.) upto 0.10 m2 in section.

Case – II
Opening upto 0.01 m2 in area.

Case - III
Cement Concrete Blocks as for Hold fast and Holding down bolts.

Method of Measurement of Plastering and Pointing [IS: 1200 (Part XII)]

Unit of Plastering
All plastering shall be measured in Sq.m (m2)

Deductions for Plastering Work

Case – I
No deduction shall be made for opening not exceeding 0.50 m2 each and no addition shall be made for reveals,
Jambs, Soffits, sills, etc.

Case – II
Deductions for opening in between 0.50 m2 to 3.0 m2 (means opening more than 0.50 m2 and less than 3.0 m2)
each, shall be 50% of the area of opening on each face made from the areas of Plastering.
No addition shall be made for reveals, Jambs, Soffits, sills, etc. of these opening.

Case - III
In case, the opening of area more than 3.0 m 2, deduction shall be made for whole area on each face but
Jambs, Soffits, sills shall be measured.
