Daily Lesson Plan: English - 7th Grade

Role: Teacher Assistant

Book: Spark 2
Field of Language: Language and Communication
Level: 7th Grade
Topic: Project Presentation 1
Date: 8 November, 2024

Objectives:

● To help students prepare and present a project in English, using appropriate language and
presentation skills.
● To develop students' speaking, listening, and presentation skills.
● To encourage collaboration and effective communication through group work.
● To use critical thinking to organize and present ideas clearly.

Lesson Organisation:

1. Presentation (10 mins)

1. Introduction to the Project (5 mins):

○ The teacher will introduce the project, explaining the purpose and objectives.
○ I will assist by providing a clear overview of the expectations, such as the use of
English, the structure of the presentation, and how to prepare visual aids.
○ The focus will be on key skills: research, collaboration, and clear communication.
2. Explaining the assessment criteria (5 mins):
○ The teacher will review the assessment criteria with the students (e.g., clarity of
presentation, use of English, creativity, teamwork).
○ I will assist by ensuring that all students understand and feel confident about what
is expected.

2. Practice (20 mins)

1. Group Work (15 mins):

○ Students will be divided into small groups. Each group will begin preparing their
project using the resources provided (computers, books, online materials).
○ I will circulate among the groups, providing support with research, helping
students organize their ideas, and offering feedback on language usage.
○ I will also encourage students to think critically about how to structure their
presentation (e.g., Introduction, main points, conclusion).
○ Each group will decide on a leader or spokesperson who will present their
findings.
2. IT and Research Practice (5 mins):
○ I will guide the students in using IT tools such as Google Slides or PowerPoint to
create their presentation.
○ I will encourage them to include images, charts, and other visual aids to enhance
their presentation and help them communicate their ideas clearly.

3. Production (15 mins)

1. Presentation (10 mins):

○ Each group will present their project to the class. I will assist by timing each
presentation to ensure fairness and giving each group 2-3 minutes to speak.
○ I will encourage students to use clear speech, maintain eye contact, and support
their ideas with visual aids (slides, pictures).
○ The other students will take notes and prepare questions or comments for
feedback.
2. Peer Feedback (5 mins):
○ After each presentation, I will encourage the class to provide feedback on what
went well and what could be improved, focusing on the use of language, clarity,
and creativity.
○ I will facilitate the feedback session by asking guiding questions, such as:
■ "What did you like most about the presentation?"
■ "Is there anything that could be improved?"
○ I will model positive, constructive feedback and encourage students to be specific
in their responses.

Methodology:

● Task-Based Learning: The project encourages students to engage with real-world tasks,
such as researching, organizing information, and presenting in English.
● Collaborative Learning: Working in groups helps students develop teamwork skills,
learn from each other, and practice communication in a supportive environment.
● Critical Thinking: Students must think critically about how to structure their
presentation and how to present their ideas clearly to an audience.
● Interactive Learning: The use of IT tools, feedback, and peer interaction allows for
active student participation and engagement.
● Flipped Classroom: Students will work together to gather information and prepare their
project, and then present it in front of the class, applying their learning actively.

Assessment:

○ I will monitor the groups during the research and preparation phase, providing
feedback on language use and helping students stay on task.
○ I will assess the students' ability to organize information and present it clearly.
○ During the peer feedback session, I will observe the students' ability to give and
receive constructive feedback.

Homework: After the presentation, students will write a short reflection (5-6 sentences) about
their experience in preparing and presenting the project. They should describe what went well,
what they learned, and any challenges they faced.
