AFF Test and Interview Preparation Material
General Guidance:
Dear students applying in AFF,
Details of AFF Test:
➢ It will be conducted online at A. F. Ferguson and it will not be on the same

day/time for everyone.
➢ Test will contain nothing technical (no CAF subjects such as tax, accounting.
➢ It will be testing English, math, reasoning, general knowledge, current affairs etc.
➢ Please note that you cannot prepare for this beforehand. So please do not
worry about it.
➢ All you need is to sleep well, stay confident and keep an open and sharp mind towards the exam.
We have compiled a document for your preparation of A. F. Ferguson's test. This can be helpful for EY as

Historically, during the recent three induction cycles, the pattern of AFF Test has been as follows:
Number of Questions: 30
Number of Sections: 3
1. Verbal Reasoning – English – 10 Questions – 20 minutes
2. Numerical Reasoning - Mathematics – 10 Questions – 20 minutes
3. Analytical Reasoning – Logical – 10 Questions– 20 minutes
Total Duration: 1 hour
If you complete any section before the lapse of time, no surplus time shall be carried
forward to any other section. Plus, you can go back and revise your solutions before the
lapse of 20 minutes in the section you are attempting.
To practice for the AFF Test, please refer to the sample test and India Bix Links below. I
think the sample paper is not available right now at AFF & Co Website, so I have shared
the one from last time.
The test is the very crucial stage of getting into the interview stage of AFF, and since the competition

8. There was also a curve along a small line. You have to notice the movement of the curve and
line simultaneously all 3 steps. You have to identify the 4th one.
(i.e., line was rotating at 45 degree whereas curve change its place by 180 degree) So keep
your mind fresh and present in your ANALYTICAL THINKING portion.
9. Like in question of numerical reasoning, Candidate was required to type next number in series

Feedback winter 2021:

Numerical aptitude consisted of questions similar to the following in nature:
•Finding the shortest distance between 2 points

•Simple interest problems
•Father son age problem
•time and rate
•ratio proportion
Verbal Aptitude consisted of absolutely no Vocabulary, there were only 2 types of questions that
were tested (5 times each)

•Remove Jumbling in the given phrases to make a logical sentence

•Fill in the blank with appropriate articles/pronouns/prepositions etc.
Logical Reasoning was rather diverse. It tested the following concepts:

•Which of the following options can be formed from the given dice map.
•People sitting opposite to each other and finding what person is sitting next to whom under given
circumstances.
•Venn diagram-based sets (among 80 people 55 like coffee, 47 like tea...how many people like
only coffee)
•how many squares in the image
•permutations
Completing logical diagrams. I’ll send a reference photo too.

English and analytical thinking were easy.

But do practice math’s. It was easy though but i couldn't attempt it properly due to lack of
preparation and time management.
In English section
There were 5 mcqs from arrangement of sentences
Three were easy and two were odd. Almost 5 were of filling the blanks where there were 2 blanks
only in a 2 liner single sentence. 20 minutes were literally more than enough
U can do it in less than 12 minutes
In logical reasoning
2 questions were belonging from cross shapes followed by numbers, and 2 questions of square
shapes containing 8 figures with the missing 9th one.
1 question of differentiating a diagram from 4 others
You can do such mcqs by relating the sequence of arrangement of figures like circle in square,
triange inside, and hexagon inside.
1 mcqs was relating to seating arrangement
Rest of others
2 questions were from Ven diagram.
In Numerical section
Two questions were relating to simple interest With missing figures also, so practice it well from

Ratio proportion, which was also calculated after following some steps
One Question was from Time and rate.
Like point x and y have difference of 90 Miles.
A bhaaga 10 am pe with 5 mph speed or b bhaaga 10 am k 3 hours k baad with 7.5 mph. When
will they meet? And options were given Like 6 pm, 4 pm etc
Rest of the part was not much technical and easily achievable

Exactly don’t remember the questions but they were easy (ratio, permutation/combination 1
question, Speed/Distance 2 Questions, Simple Interest, Losses)

There were mostly 2 type of questions 》
(i) 4 sentences were given (jumbled up) and we had to put them in order to form a logical
paragraph
(ii) Fill in the blanks (2 blanks were given): using the correct tenses

Maths/Numerical portion:
The questions were relatively easy with simple interest, profit percentage and series being tested.
Easily managed within time.
Verbal Reasoning/English:
Very easy portion. Half of the questions were of jumbled up sentences that are to be rearranged.
The remaining half of fill in the blanks; easily done within 12 minutes
Analytical Reasoning:
This portion was a little tricky or difficult in comparison to the other two. Question of
permutation/Combination, series, simple math’s and missing numbers in a relation( a cube was
given with 8 number figures and you have to figure out the one missing) similarly, a two-arrow
figure with numbers written on their ends except for one that you have to find.

4 figures were given with a shaded area and question was which figure has the largest shaded
area.
A question on Venn diagram was also there.
Nothing was tested regarding vocabulary or figure pattern.

Test was quite simple and easy, but one should have practice of using laptop and its calculator. I struggled
a lot and messed up my 1st section as I practiced on desktop but got stable in others. Calculator is
completely basic. So, one shouldn't be relying on it.

Interview was kind of late so i think the interviewers were somewhat tired.
Asked introduction, i mentioned i work with a charity organization so asked questions regarding that.
They also asked if i read up on accounting news, i thought they meant new accounting standards so i
said i don't, then they asked about news in the auditing world.
I also mentioned i did a course on IT Audit, so they asked what'd i learn from that.
They asked favorite subject and i said audit. Then they asked procedures regarding payroll.

• After filling out the form, I had to wait for about 3 hours in the waiting area. They were calling
in interviewees randomly. So even though I had arrived and was scheduled for an interview

• The actual interview was with a manager. It was all in English. She asked me the following
