I
Foreword
In this tutorial, we provide various case studies, which are from easy to difficult and combine theory with
practice. We hope to improve users’ 3D CAD/CAM skills and techniques with ZW3D.

The tutorial bases on our technical engineers’ years of experience in the industry and ZW3D, which is the
fruit of a lot of efforts and wisdom. We sincerely hope that the tutorial will do help to you, and your precious
advice on it is highly welcomed.

There are three series for this tutorial: Primary Tutorial, From Entry to Master Tutorial, and Advanced
Tutorial. From easy to difficult, they offer a step-by-step learning process that can meet different user needs.

Primary Tutorial series is for users who have little or no prior 3D CAD/CAM experience. If you are green hands
of 3D CAD/CAM software, or if you are a new user of ZW3D, we recommend that you get started with this
tutorial. Here you can learn the basic knowledge and concepts of ZW3D, rapidly master the simple operations
and workflows of ZW3D, and practice simple cases.

From Entry to Master Tutorial series is for users with basic know-how of 3D CAD/CAM software. If you have
experience in 3D CAD/CAM software and want to master common functions of ZW3D, we suggest that you
start with this series. Here you can dig deeper into the functions and master more operations of ZW3D.

Advanced Tutorial series is for users with practical experience in 3D CAD/CAM software. If you hope to have
a comprehensive command of ZW3D and get the complicated operations done independently, you can
choose to learn this series. Here you can learn to use the software more flexibly and get rich experience to
increase your efficiency.

What you are learning is ZW3D CAM QM Server Configure, an advanced tutorial.

Thanks for being our user!

QM Server Configure

Key Points:
 Deployment environment
 Configure settings

1 Environment Preparation
QM remote computing capacity refers to send 3x operations that are completed editing on user’s local
machine through the network to others’ personal computers or high-performance servers for computing.
With the help of this functionality, users can edit and modify other operations while they are computing an
operation and can speed up the computing speed with the high-performance servers as they’re more
powerful in computing.

1.1 Glossary
1) Local
Refer to user’s operating computer. ZW3D is installed and deployed on the local machine, after users created
the editing operations on the local machine with ZW3D, they can invoke QM program to calculate toolpaths
on the local machine, and compute toolpaths via the remote scheduling host as well.
2) Scheduling host
Generally, it refers to high-performance server. Install ZW3D on the server, after the scheduling program is
started, the server will be configured as the scheduling host. The local machine can send computing tasks to
the scheduling host via the Network and then are assigned by the scheduling host to different computational
nodes for execution. The scheduling host itself is also a computational node.
3) Computational node
Generally, it refers to high-performance server. Install ZW3D on the server, after the scheduling program is
started, the server will be configured as a computational node. A scheduling host can manage multiple
computational nodes. The scheduling host can schedule different computing tasks to each computational
node for computing based on resources to implement cluster computing.

1.2 Environment & Resource Requirements

1) Resource Preparation:
ZW3D installation package, a local machine, a scheduling host, and a computational node(optional)
2) Environment Requirement:
➢ The local and the scheduling host can communicate with each other through the network.
➢ The scheduling host and the computational nodes can communicate with each other through the
network.
➢ Install and activate ZW3D on the local machine, scheduling host, and computational node,
separately.

2 Remote Scheduling Host Configuration

2.1 Scheduling Host Configuration
In the ZW3D installation directory on the scheduling host, you can search and run the scheduler program
of ZwScheduleLauncher.exe.

directory. Generate and periodically
clean log files and runtime cache files.
Choose Scheduling Host in Scheduler Type and set Local Port (39318 as default) on the scheduling
parameter and set the working directory of the scheduler as required. Click Setting button to complete
configuration and click Start button to enable the scheduling server software.

After configured successfully, it can automatically start the corresponding program within several seconds
when you start the scheduling configured program next time if no configuration updated. During the
computing progress, you can check the IP address, CPU, GPU, and the local submission task state on the
Task scheduling manager of the scheduling host. At this point, the remote server configuration is
completed.

2.2 Computational Node Configuration

The configuration process of computational node is the same as that of scheduling host. You only need to
set Computational Node as Scheduler Type and configure Server as the scheduling host’s IP and port.

2.3 Local Machine Configuration

CAM->3x Quick->Tools->QM Server Configure
1) Run ZW3D on the local machine and enter the CAM editing interface. Click QM Server Configure
and select Network option in Operating Mode.

2) Set the scheduling host’s IP and port on Sever Configuration and click Detect. If detected
successfully, it will display scheduling host’s CPU and GPU information.

3) After configuration is done, when select background calculation during computing operations, this
computing task will be immediately sent to the remote scheduling host. The scheduling calculation
is computed by the scheduling host.
