PART 2: TASK 2

2.0.1 Introduction

According to this assignment of OUMH 2203 it requires student to prepare a

video presentation of student’s job application. It is done according to the concept of
applying the job virtual. Virtual interviews have become quite common and they are a
way for employers to interview candidates using online tools. It is also called a video,
remote or digital interview. Virtual interviews need you to set up and use equipment such
as video interviewing software, webcams and headsets. These virtual interviews are done
through recording a video. The video production process consists of three main steps.
The first one is, pre-production, which is the planning stage for mapping out strategy and
script for the video. Then, production is the phase in which the video is shot. Finally,
post-production, which involves editing the video, adding music and other effects.

2.0.2 Reflection on the process

The process of making this video assignment is quite tough. As for the first stage
of planning the video is to planning the storyboard for the video. Making a script is quite
challenging. Scripting is a key guide to helping making a better video. By having a script,
I know that I will cover everything that needs to be said in a concise and effective way. I
get to craft my message and outcome. Scripts have a huge influence on the video that will
be created. Writing a script can take time, but can save a lot of time when you start
creating your video. Presenting a job virtual presentation with board directors need
presenters to speak a formal and bombastic word to make them impress. Besides, the
language process which is vocabulary and grammar in writing has to be perfect and right.
Every grammatical error in the script is going to give a bad impact to our performances.
Also, while delivering the presentation, tone voices should be loud but not in a rudely
way. So it needs to be a lot of research and study to overcome those challenges. Others
than that, figure out the right location to record video is one of the first stage of planning
the video. To search for the right place to shoot this video it is depend on what type of

2
video are creating, but generally speaking, there are three main types my own location,
other person’s private property with permission and a public area or space (parking lot,
street, etc.). Since I have to make this video in a formal way and professional I choose to
shoot in my own place with a blank background. Challenges during the process of
recording the video are sounds quality poor. Unfortunately it is because of most basic
microphones and the built-in microphones on video cameras aren’t designed to record
high quality audio and also the environment sounds are too loud. Having a good
microphone and finding a proper and quite place to shoot video. After the video was
recorded the challenges happened are the process of editing. The processes of editing
video is to attach together all the video that have been recorded in one video, cut out
some unwanted scene, adding audio and many more. Editing video will take time for
about three to four days making to come out with good result and creative. To create a
creative and a good quality video I used to do it early and using good apps of editing
video such as Filmora 9.

2.0.3 Timeline of the Recording

Timeline is a line that shows the time and the order in which events have
happened. The duration of video or the video timeline are planned through storyboard.
That’s why creating a storyboard is important. It also related to timeline planning. For
this assignment, the timeline of completing the recording video is up to nine minutes and
fifty-one seconds. During the storyboard planning, the estimated duration of the video
would be ten minutes but it turns out to be longer than expected. To make this video more
creative and interesting some virtual aids will be adding. Virtual aids that have been
attached in the video is a presentation slide and a bar graph. The presentation slide is
showing summary to the explanation that I did. I adding a bar graph. The bar graph
shows my level skills of working. The process of preparing a virtual aids first, preparing
slides of text. Slides of text (outlines, lists, sentences) make up 75% of all visuals. An
effective text slide can highlight important concepts, sequences; poorly designed text
slides can frustrate and confuse the audience. Slides text attached in the video starting in
the duration of 0.26 seconds until 9:51 minutes. This slide present helps an audience

3
understand and remember information in a presentation. Next, making tables. The
purpose of a table is to present complex data, to demonstrate patterns and relationships,
and to present exact data. In general, tables are less dramatic than graphs of the same data
and should be used when graphs or figures can't make the point. Tables have four
essential elements: title, column headings, row headings, and field. More sophisticated
tables may have other elements including a box heading, stub heading, and footnotes.
Finally, making figures. A figure is any type of illustration other than a table. Graphs,
charts, diagrams, and photographs are all examples of figures. Figures can quickly
illustrate, clarify, or emphasize key relationships between categories and numbers,
revealing structural relationships and processes, such as decision making. Creativity and
professionalism are very important in this video presentation making it is because
creativity will be influencing audiences’ decisions more than 50% of audiences want to
see creative video content. Which was more than any other type of content. So not only is
video effective at influencing your audience, people would actually prefer to see video
content in video. Professionalism is also important in this video making. Professionalism
is the display of characteristics associated with an individual who possesses the skills
necessary to do a job well or is a professional, not an amateur, or an unskilled person.

2.0.4 Reflect on the Content

The presentation content could be more in better way is to use a visual metaphor
more. Research has shown that combining pictures and text is one of the best ways to
help people engage with and retain information. There’s something about how our brain
works that makes text by itself far less memorable, so if it combines something visual
with the message, that will keep people’s attention longer and they’ll remember more of
the presentation. Visual metaphor that have been using in my video is not that much and
it can be more. Besides that, this presentation content could be smoother is aspect of
delivery. I have to practice run through. This way I will be able to review with an
accurate eye and notice whether my speech matches up with camera. Also, I have to been
using a timer so that my presentation does not take long. Other than that, quality of
presentation content could be better by reducing ambient noises. Recording video

4
required to have a quiet spot so that our delivery speech will be more clear. A video
presentation is a popular form of multimedia presentation with a duration of several
seconds or minutes that shows the benefits of a product, service, or any idea with the help
of interesting graphic images, concise text, and appropriate narration. This kind of video
presentation is familiar to me due to most of my assignment in others subject also
required me to do video presentation. For me some instances where I think my idea could
have been improved is to deliver my speech by telling a story. Telling stories is a
compelling way of presenting because humans relate to them. Stories engage the
audience, evoke empathy, increase trust and motivate action. By working on the
storytelling skills, it will be more effective at persuading the audience the value of our
ideas. A motion graphic in a video presentation are also a good way to make the video
more interactive. Motion graphics is animation, but with text as a major component.
Essentially, it’s animated graphic design. Motion graphics are a way to communicate
with the viewer, and add depth to the story. Together with music and effective copy, they
can give a message. The audience gets clarity more through motion graphics rather than
images. And so they are able to give their comments and feedback on the motion graphics
videos rather than images.

2.0.5 Suggestions

As the video are done recorded, I showed it to my daughter and I’ve asked her if
she feels that the report presentation is convincing enough. She answered it by telling it’s
convincing enough. She said what makes it convincing is because of the speech. I put a
lot of affirmation sentences to emphasizes audiences. But she also thought that I can be
improvised. She also gives a suggestion that could help me to improve the way I speak
and to become a good speaker. One of her advice is always well prepared. One of the
most important qualities of a good speaker is the ability to be prepared. Start by creating
an outline or draft of your topic. While rehearsing, try to vary your presentation. Deliver
unique messages and ideas. One of the qualities of a good public speaker is the ability to
deliver a unique message. Audiences don't want a repeat of something that they have
heard before. Giving them a fresh perspective and a unique message can make your entire

5
talk seem more empowering and impactful. Provide actionable content. A good public
speaker doesn't always deliver a speech or talk just to pass the time. Their public
speeches are generally designed to help the audience to improve on what they do or the
way in which they think. Others than that, to improve in delivering a speech I have to
control my voice tone. Diaphragmatic breathing is a useful voice control technique. It can
give your voice greater power and clarity and prevent the shortness of breath. Besides,
she also said that I need to improve my body language. Body language is the combination
of your gestures, facial expressions, and movements. It’s an integral part of how we
communicate. It helps audience to understand better the nuances of the message. If my
body language contrasts with what I want to transmit or seems incoherent, my speech
will be confusing.

2.0.5 Personal Thoughts

I think overall my presentation went well, but I am definitely able to identify

features which could have been improved. I believe that my delivery was generally clear
and organized; however, while watching the video. I noticed that I need to work more on
the speech flow and find effective ways to engage the audience. My posture and eye
contact were good but I definitely need to work on my speech rate, such as making more
pauses so the audience is able to “digest” the information provided and not feel
overwhelmed with the amount of the information at a fast pace. I also think I “overdid”
my hand gestures and this is something that I need to improve. There is also room for
eliminating fillers such as um as I tend to use them quite a bit, especially in the beginning
of my speech. Overall, I believe that I have many strengths such as the ability to speak
without feeling overwhelmed or very nervous, to quickly think and avoid mistakes
without getting frustrated and to deliver my speech with effective voice projection and
eye contact. The main areas for improvement would be to engage the audience as they
may relate more to my speech, use fewer facial and hand gestures, speak at a slower pace
and make appropriate pauses, and use fewer fillers throughout the speech. As for me,
recording a video for job interview presentation have a pros and cons. The advantage of
recording this video is I tend to be more practice to speak in English language. I do not

6
really fluence in speaking but for this video assignment I need to have a lot practice and it
helps me to became better. Besides, I think this video presentation give me a confidence
to talk. If I have to present face to face with audience it might give chill to me but with
this video making it helps me encounter that problems. The disadvantages of recording
this video is disturbing environment. It is hard to find a quiet and proper to record this
video. Some noises are hearing in my video it is because of my environment. Besides, the
quality of video is poor. I lack of equipment to record a video such as camera stand and
others. This experience of having a recorded video job presentation really help me in
future. I have learned the way to come out with a creative video which is by adding a
virtual aid. I also learn to attach a virtual aid in my presentation video. It is quite a
challenge process but I overcome it.

2.0.7 Conclusion

For the conclusion, video presentation are one of the better way to company held
an interview. It really helps candidates to be more confident and produce potential
workers skilled in the field of technology. The company will also find it easier to control
participants even if there are a large number of participants to be interviewed.
