JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools 8.9x Minimum Technical Requirements for Clients and Pervasive Devices
Release Level: GA
This document describes the minimum technical requirements for clients for the following EnterpriseOne Tools versions:
Specific vendor hardware and software information is available in the EnterpriseOne 8.9x Informational Web Sites document.
System Restore Windows Vista should be turned off on Enterprise One Windows and Development Clients to allow Enterprise One to function correctly.

1. Click Start, select Control Panel, select System and Maintenance, select System, then from the panel on the left select System Protection. On the System
Properties screen, select the System Protection Tab. On the bottom half under Automatic Restore Points check the box for the disk where EnterpriseOne Client is
installed, click OK.
Web Client
Note: Starting with JD Edwards application 8.11, the web client is required for running business applications (the Windows client is supported only for running EnterpriseOne administrative
applications starting with 8.11). The Windows client is supported with application releases 8.9 and 8.10 for administrative and business applications.
Hardware Requirements
· Contact your specific hardware representative for optimal system configuration for the operating system on which the browser runs.
· It is critical to check with your hardware vendor for sizing requirements when upgrading from XE or ERP 8 to EnterpriseOne 8.9x release.
One of the primary factors that effects the performance of the Web client is the number of cells to be rendered in the grid within interactive applications. If unsatisfactory performance is
experienced while rendering the grid, performance of the Web client can usually be improved by:

· To mitigate cookie collisions and/or shared session opportunities between two open Internet Explorer browsers refer to My

· EnterpriseOne export to Microsoft Excel is supported only on Windows with Firefox, starting with Tools Release 8.97.
· EnterpriseOne export to CSV is supported for Windows, Mac and Red Hat with Firefox, starting with Tools Release
8.97.

Freedom Scientific JAWS 8.0. The Web Client supports accessibility for visually impaired through JAWS. JAWS 8.0 is

the only supported level and is only supported on the Internet Explorer.
Microsoft Office 2007 is optional. Microsoft Office 2007 is supported beginning with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools
8.96.2. Note that Microsoft Office 2007 has changed some default file extensions. For example, the default extension for
Excel files has changed from .xls to .xlsx. Therefore, when exporting to Excel 2007 files, users might have to change the
target file name to *.* to see all available files.
Microsoft Office 2010 is optional. Microsoft Office 2010 is supported beginning with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools
8.98.3. Note Default file extensions in Microsoft Office 2010 are the same as Microsoft Office 2007. The ability to save
files under Microsoft Office 2003 file extensions is still available.
Windows Client
Note: Starting with JD Edwards application 8.11, the web client is required for running business applications (the Windows client is supported only for running EnterpriseOne administrative
applications starting with 8.11).
Hardware Requirements
Specification Recommendation
Hard Drive 8 GB for system code and initial path code. 6 GB for each additional path code. This is in
addition to any other system requirements.
Printer Support Non-double-byte: Post Script Language Level 2, PCL 5 or line printer.
Double-byte: Genuine Adobe Systems PostScript Language Level 2 Interpreter version 2015,
or PostScript Language Level 3.
PCL 5 is only supported for non-double-byte customers.
EnterpriseOne uses CID Font Technology. Support starts at Language Level 2 Interpreter 2015.
Note: It has been discovered that some third-party interpreters of PostScript Language Level 2

Hardware Requirements
For Tools releases 8.97 and earlier, the hardware requirements for the development client are the same as the Windows client.
Beginning with Tools Release 8.98 and Applications Release 9.0, customers have a choice between Oracle Database Enterprise Edition and Microsoft SQL Server Express as the local
database. If Oracle Database Enterprise Edition is chosen, the following minimum hardware specifications are highly recommended:

Note: Visual Studio C++ 2005 and Visual Studio C++ 2008 SP1 are the only supported compilers on Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows 7. If
Visual Studio C++ 2005 is used, the Update for Windows Vista must be applied.
Configuration information for Visual Studio C++ 2005 is included in the Package Management Guide 8.97.
Configuration information for Visual Studio C++ 2008 SP1 is included in the Package Management Guide 8.98.2.

Note: ESUs have been created to mitigate MS Visual C++ 2005 compiler build errors and warnings for EnterpriseOne application releases 8.9, 8.10, 8.11,
8.11_SP1, and 8.12.
Note: Customers using the MS Visual C++ 2008 SP1 compiler must run the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (vcredist_x86.exe) to
install Visual C++ 2008 SP1 runtime components to run applications on a computer that does not have the MS Visual C++ 2008 SP1 compiler installed.

to distribution mechanisms for this Microsoft redistributable package.
· OC4J Standalone (10.1.3.2). Support for Oracle OC4J Standalone 10.1.3.2 begins with EnterpriseOne Tools 8.97. Support for the Oracle Application Server with Microsoft
Windows Vista begins with Oracle Application Server 10g R3 (10.1.3.1). In order to use the OC4J Standalone (10.1.3.1) installation, a Java2 Standard Edition (J2SE) SDK version
5.0 (JDK 1.5) must be available on the Deployment Server.
· OC4J Standalone (10.1.3.5). Support for Oracle OC4J Standalone 10.1.3.5 begins with EnterpriseOne Tools 8.98.4. In order to use the OC4J Standalone (10.1.3.5) installation, a
Java2 Standard Edition (J2SE) SDK version 5.0 (JDK 1.5) must be available on the Deployment Server.
If the development client is to be installed on Windows 7, the workstation package must be built using JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools 8.98.4.2 or later, which includes OC4J

For convenience of installation, the supported version of Standalone OC4J and JDK are included as part of the development client installation process.
· Support for the WebSphere Application Server Express with Microsoft Windows Vista begins with WebSphere Application Server Express 6.1.
· Support for the WebSphere Application Server Express with Microsoft Windows 7 begins with Tools 8.98.4.2 and WebSphere Application Server Express 6.1 with fixpack 29 or
later.
· Support for the WebSphere Application Server Express 8.5 or WebSphere Application Server for Developers 8.5 with Microsoft Windows 7 begins with Tools 8.98.4.11.
· The proper version of WebSphere Application Server Express or Developers must be installed manually before installing the development client. The WebSphere Application
Server Express 6.1 CD is included with the EnterpriseOne Technology Foundation CDs or can be acquired directly from IBM. The WebSphere Application Server Express 8.5 can
be downloaded from Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Update Center or ordered from IBM. WebSphere Application Server for Developers 8.5 can only be acquired directly from
IBM.
