CONTEST PROPOSAL

I. CONTEST TITLE: MUNICIPAL SCHOOLS PRESS CONFRENCE

II. DATE AND VENUE: November 8, 2024
Sinigpit Elementary School
III. RATIONALE:
IV. Campus journalism gives students an invaluable outlet through which they can
give voice to their ideas and be student voices. Moreover, it helps students
improve their communication arts skills by giving them various assignments
that entail editing, writing, proofreading, and headline writing regularly.
Although campus journalism serves various purposes, its cardinal ingredient is
the freedom of expression, which is anchored on the basic right to speech.
Through Republic Act 7079, which is the Campus Journalism Act,
involvement of young journalists in school-based journalism nurtures ethical
values, encourages critical and creative thinking, and assists in the
development of moral character and self-discipline.
Conducting a school-based Press Conference brought the learners
significant exposure with a great opportunity to hone their journalistic skills to
produce exemplary journalists to be sent to the district, municipal, division,
regional and national level.
V. OBJECTIVES:
The conference aims to:
A. Provide pupils and students the opportunity to exhibit their journalistic skills;
B. Select participants who will represent the school to the 2024 District
Schools Press Conference;
C. Provide a venue for the campus journalists to improve their performance to the
district, municipal and division press conference;
