Power Automate
Power Automate is a tool that enables users to create automated
procedures called flows that can perform a variety of actions on different
data sources to automate procedures that normally would require human
intervention.
There are three ways to make a flow:
1. Blank flow: There are five different types of blank flows: Automated,
Instant, Scheduled, Desktop, and Business process.
2. Template: Any of these templates consists of pre-configured steps
but you can modify them or add to them change them however you
like.
3. Connector: More than 200 connectors available.
Blank Flow
Automate Flow:
This is a flow that will run when a particular event happens. Automate
flows always have a trigger that launches the flow.
Instant Flow:
instant flow is one that is triggered manually usually, by a button or some
other control, possibly in a Power Apps app or anywhere else.
Scheduled Flow:
A scheduled cloud flow is, as the name implies, one that will execute at a
specific date and time. So here we specify a name for it, we specify a date
and time, and you could also configure it to repeat at selected intervals.
Desktop Flow:
This is a fairly recent addition to Power Automate. There is a Power
Automate for desktop tool that you could install. You can download the
app and create flows on your desktop to automate tasks normally running
on your individual computer.
Flow Building
Also, when you look at the workspace page of any flow, clicking the
"More" button on any trigger or action opens pop-up menu like this which
has a my connections section at the bottom showing you what account is
connected to that particular data source, and also enabling you to add a
new connection if you wanted to a new user.
If you want to, you can add co-owners to a flow and that would enable
them to change the credentials as needed. When you create an instant
flow, you can designate other users as co-owners, or you can make run-
only users. And for the run-only users, you could specify whether they can
use the credentials that you supplied when you created the flow, or that
they must supply their own credentials when the flow is running.
