1.3. Design and configure a fully connected Bus Network in CISCO Packet Tracer
and ensure all devices can communicate with each other.
2. Basic setup
1. What devices are added to the workspace in CISCO Packet Tracer?
• 5 Switches
• 1 Router
• 5 PCs
2. What are the steps to connect each device to every other device using
appropriate cables?
• Use copper cross-over cables to connect the switches as, it is the cable
used to connect similar components.
• Use copper Straight-through cables to connect the each PC to respective
Switches, as it the cable used to connect dissimilar components.
3. MAC and IP address configuration
Assigning an IP address to each machine on Network
1. Double click the PC for which you want to set the ip address.
2. In the popup window, go to desktop and click ip configuration.
3. Set any ip address you want to use, generally 10.0.0.* is used.
IP and MAC address of each device from your network:
1. PC6:
• MAC Address: 0000.0C2A.83A3
• IP Address: 192.168.1.2
• Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
2. PC7:
• MAC Address: 0060.3E04.5A53
• IP Address: 192.168.1.3
• Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
3. PC8:
• MAC Address: 0002.17A5.20B7
• IP Address: 192.168.1.4
• Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
4. PC9:

• IP Address: 192.168.2.2

4.Verification
1. Verifying connectivity using Ping Command
Steps:
• Double-click on each PC.
• Go to desktop and open command prompt.
• Use “ping <ip_address of target_machine> “ to check connectivity of the
current PC and target PC.
Example:
Checking connectivity between PC6(192.168.1.2) and PC9(192.168.2.2).
2. What steps would you take if a device does not respond to a ping request?
Steps:
• Check If all connections are ready, indicated by green dot on wires.
• Check if the End devices are turned on
• Check if IP address is correctly configured and correctly typed
without typo in the command.
