(a) All questions are compulsory.

(b) There are 30 questions in total. Questions 1 to 10 carry one mark each, questions 11 to 18 carry two
marks each, questions 19 to 27 carry three marks each and questions 28 to 30 carry five marks each.

(c) There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in one question of two
marks, one question of three marks and all three questions of five marks each. You have to attempt only

(ii) Passengers are thrown outward when a moving bus takes a sudden turn?
14. What are concurrent forces? Under what conditions will a body remain in equilibrium?
15. From the following graph, find the sign of (i) velocity (ii) acceleration. Give reasons for each
answer.

16. Two forces 5 and 10 kg wt are acting with an inclination of 1200 between them. What
is the angle which the resultant makes with 10kg wt?
17.[16.] For the projectile motion, show that time of ascent is equal to time of descent.

while kinetic friction is 0.4. If a force of 100N is applied to block B, what is the acceleration

19.[18.] It is easier to pull a lawn roller than to push it. Explain using the resolution of forces.
20.[19.] Two billiard balls, each of mass 0.05 kg moving in opposite directions with speed
16m/scollide and rebound with the same velocity. What is the impulse imparted to each
ball due to the other?

21.[20.] A long playing record revolves with a speed of 33 rev / min, and has a radius of 15

cm. Two coins are placed at 4 cm and 14 cm away from the centre of the record. If the
coefficient of friction between the coins and the record is 0.15. Which of the two coins will
revolve with the record?
22.[21.] A car drives along the straight level frictionless road by an engine delivering constant
power. How is velocity of the car related to time elapsed?
23.[22.] Prove that the impulse received during an impact is equal to the total change in
momentum produced during the impact.

reduced to 36 km/h. At the same rate of retardation , how much further will it go before it
is brought to rest ?
27.[26.] Establish a relation between linear velocity and angular velocity in a uniform circular
motion and explain the direction of linear velocity.

28.[27.] A particle is thrown over a triangle from one end of a horizontal base that grazing the
vertex falls on the other end of the base. If  and  be the base angles and  the angle of
projection, prove that-

(a) A balloon is ascending at the rate of 14 ms-1 at a height of 98 m above the ground,
when a packet is dropped from it. After how much time and with what velocity does it
reach the ground?
(b) Do the following two graphs represent same types of motion? Name the motion
29.[28.] State and explain the laws of limiting friction. How are they verified experimentally ?
OR
State and prove the law of conservation of momentum with example.
30.[29.] The elevator shown in figure is descending with an acceleration of 2 ms−2. The mass of
the block A=0.5 kg. Find the force ( in Newton) exerted by the block A on the block B.

OR

The diameter of a wire as measured by a screw guage was found to be 1.328, 1.330,1.325,
1.326, 1.334 and 1.336 cm. calculate : (i) mean value of diameter (ii) absolute error in each
measurement (iii) mean absolute error (iv) fractional error, (v) percentage error. Also, express
the result in terms of absolute error and percentage error.
