Gilat SkyEdge II-c LB Guide May 2023
Gilat SkyEdge II-c LB Guide May 2023
Short Frame modcods supported only with IPM5 (and not with IPM6):
QPSK 1/4, 11/45, 4/15, 14/45
Notes for the MF-TDMA RTN specifications for LDPC High SNR and Low SNR below:
• Required Quasi Error Free Es/N0 and Eb/N0 performance is defined at Packet Error Rate (PER)
= 10-5 (for AWGN channel)
• Spectral efficiency considers preambles, pilot insertion and FEC but not guard time
• High ModCods must be transmitted with back-off, from P1dB reference, due to peak-to-
average ratio and ACI. See the table below
• For SatMaster or similar tools, put FEC = Spectral Efficiency / Modulation Order, where
spectral efficiency appears in the tables below, and modulation order is the number of
modulated bits per symbol: 1 for BPSK, 2 for QPSK, 4 for 16QAM, etc.
• The default margin to determine the RTN modcod is 1dB. This margin is configurable by the
system operator
• Before v5.5, BPSK in High-SNR requires the maintenance channel to be in Low-SNR. This
requirement is no longer valid for v5.5 and above
• For High SNR channels bigger than 12.288Msps, use only 12096-bit
• The above extra back-offs are due to peak-to-average ratio and ACI
• Use “Low Rates Ratio” for Msps size ratio between biggest and shortest channel of up to 1:8
for BPSK and QPSK, up to 1:4 for 16QAM. For higher ratios use “High Rates Ratio”
• Roll off factor shall be 20% when using Low SNR Modcod
Topology Single broadcast carrier per network, from hub to all remote
terminals (TDMA)
Carrier rates 1.5 up to 67 Msps
Spacing factor 1.2 (roll-off factor 0.2) or 1.1 (roll-off factor 0.1)
Waveform QPSK, 8PSK, 16APSK and 32APSK DVB-S2
Notes for the MF-TDMA 4 ATM and 2 ATM performance tables below:
Topology SCPC - dedicated channel per modem, DVB-S2 waveform, ACM short-
framing
Channel rates 1Msps to 40Msps
Spacing factor 1.2 (roll-off factor 0.2)
Waveform QPSK, 8PSK, 16APSK DVB-S2 ACM normal and short framing
BUC and typical Linear BUC / remote terminal transmitter.
back-off Typical Gilat-provided SkyEdge II-c BUCs or transceivers operate at
0.8dB back-off from saturated rating
Reception thresholds per framing and supported MODCODs (SkyEdge II-c SCPC RTN link is
DVB-S2 based):
